We stayed at Joya the first 3 nights of our family tour to NZ South Island and it was a great start .

Pauline is so friendly and lovely and this i learnt before we met from our booking correspondence and it was the main reason I choose this place which turned to be one of our best choices.
The villa room is perfect for families looking for privacy in a stylish, beautiful and cosy studio with a peaceful amazing garden..
Pauline is a great host we loved chating with her and she gave us great tips on the area and of course an amazing organic breakfast.

We highly recommend staying here Joya & Pauline have so much charm above any star rating.

This a charming B&B a real gem hideaway .

We truely enjoyed our stay at Joya, two nights were just to short. Will definitely recommend staying at Joya to anyone planning to visit Nelson. The room was lovely with everything you need and extras like the fire place and free internet. Paulina makes an excellent breakfast which I would highly recommend and she realy went out of her way to make our stay more comfortable.

I arrived much earlier than expected, but was greeted warmly by Paulina, nothing was too much trouble for her. A truly lovely lady, and a wonderful hostess.
I had the single room, which was very cosy - all that I wanted. The breakfasts were to die for.
I enjoyed some wonderful chats with Paulina, and if ever in Nelson again - it will be my first port of call.
I enjoyed the pleasant walks into town, and Paulina was very helpful in telling me what to go and visit.

I was in touch with Paulina in advance to organize champagne for the room- she was so helpful and friendly when we arrived. She also dropped us off in the city so we didn't have to take a taxi, and had prepared a nice breakfast for us already because we were leaving early in the morning. The room itself (Garden Studio) was incredible, so large and homey and warm. The Joya grounds are beautiful, and I wish we could have explored more! We will definitely be back and recommend it to all our friends travelling to Nelson. Thank you so much, Paulina!

B&B newbie but if all B&Bs were like Joya, I'd never stay anywhere else. Paulina was the ultimate hostess, picking me up / dropping me off from city center for bus trips (Abel Tasman is a worthwhile day trip). Otherwise, a pleasant 20 minute walk to city center with its quaint shops (that close very early - 5:30pm on weekdays and 2 or 4pm on Sundays). Garden studio was gorgeous (can I please live here?!?) with self-catering amenities amidst lush garden and soothing waterfalls. Breakfast looked out of a magazine with home-mixed muesli with yogurt, hot lemon with honey and freshly grated ginger, several different types of breads and jams and cheeses. Nothing was mundane. Even the apple juice had some boysenberry mixed with it. Even the butter had been lovingly decorated. For the guest who appreciates the details, Joya is THE place to stay in Nelson if you like understated ambiance and serenity.

Room Tip: Garden villa is set by itself with a nice deck to sit and read in the garden.

This family run B&B will cater to vegans if you let them know before you arrive. I stayed in the single room with shared facilities. The room was basic - but comfortable. The facilities were shared with the family and not other guests. This is the only room in the house, the other rooms are located in a separate building in the backyard. Breakfast was generous and consisted of local produce and products.
