“The highlight of our visit to New Zealand”
Reviewed June 28, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

Thank you for letting us stay in lovely Copper Gate.

The view was lovely, the fireplace piping hot. The kids loved feeding the sheep apples from the trees. Let's also not forget the amazing tasting honey! All of this is topped off by your superb hospitality.

Roger went above and beyond the requirements of a host to help organise our daughter an amazing birthday cake; it was a hit!

We hope to be back one day.
Totsiens! Cheers!

“Thank you for a lovely house in a beautiful place. Highly recommend.”
Reviewed June 16, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

We laughed, we cried, we danced, we played. We drank tea, shared stories & dabbled in a few better drops.

The company was great- full of great memories & wonderful people.

Thank you for a lovely house in a beautiful place. Highly recommend.

How wonderful that you got to have such a fun 'girls' weekend' at Copper Gate. We really appreciate the condition you left the house but especially that you enjoyed relaxing together.

“Warm, welcoming and restful”
Reviewed June 10, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

On arrival at the end of a days travel and quick nightfall we were so greatful to walk into Coppergate with the curtains drawn and a roaring fire. We loved that it felt like a real home with the attention to detail, artwork, magazines and collectables. It was remarkably restful to wake to a quiet vista of trees and paddock with friendly sheep. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer, we want to return...soon

Great to hear that you enjoyed your time at Copper Gate. We have tried to create an artsy, boutique home/lodge and make it so much more than just a place to stay. Thanks for staying.

Thanks for your great review. It was lovely to meet you and see you enjoy the tame sheep and property. Thanks too for your comments about Copper Gate itself - being one of NZ's most eco of eco homes means it is very comfortable. Cheers.

“A perfect pleasure”
Reviewed January 25, 2017 for a stay in January 2017

What a wonderful slice of paradise we found in Copper Gate. Beautifully designed Bach in the most perfect surroundings. Stunning & peaceful views - so much so, we ate on the deck almost every evening! The kids loved exploring the property, feeding the sheep and chickens and making home-made lemonade. The hosts were brilliant to deal with from start to finish - so happy they decided to share their amazing home!
We'd love to be back there now and will definitely visit again, although it will be hard to decide next time as we got to have a peak at the new Glamping site, Kissing Gate, and it looks awesome!

Thanks for your amazing review. Glad your enjoyed the chickens, sheep - and our hospitality. Just to clarify: Copper Gate is a boutique holiday home which only guests occupy. We live elsewhere on the 7 acre property. And yes, Kissing Gate luxury glamping (rated in top 14 in the world by TripAdvisor) would be an excellent choice for next time :-)

“A perfect weekend getaway for our family”
Reviewed September 8, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We loved this home! The owners were lovely, and our young kids loved exploring the property - particularly the chickens and sheep which are really tame. The house is perfect - modern and clean with everything you could need. A really relaxing weekend and we will stay again if holidaying in Mapua.

Thanks! We sometimes have to remind ourselves what a paradise it is to live in the Mapua seaside village area - which explains why we wanted to set up holiday accommodation like Copper Gate, Corru Gate and Kissing Gate so that families could explore or simply relax. It was great to hear that you had got out and about on the Great Taste Trail and down to the Wharf.
