Stayed at the Chart House Main Deck for a too brief stay in November 2008. The lovely accommodation is well thought out and generally everything required is provided. We found it difficult to drag ourselves away to enjoy the area as the views are stunning and ever changing. A quiet area but close to everything in Nelson and driving was easy (good instructions given). The owners are at hand if required. We would love to return.

We have just stayed in the Wheelhouse for a couple nights on the back of TA reviews and i have to say they were spot on. We were in the Crow's nest which had spectacular views over the bay and was beatifully furnished.

Our hosts were also particularly friendly and when we asked them about getting a number for a local taxi firm, we ended up being offered a free lift to the local airport!!

Highly recommended

Stayed at the Wheelhouse Inn in Sept and was very impressed with the quality of the property and fixtures and fittings. We stayed in The Crows Nest which had fantastic views and the property had everything needed to stay in self catered if you didn't want to venture out to one of the nearby restaurants. The tea and coffee provisions were a nice touch as wasn't expecting anything at all. Excellent value for money.

What a fantastic place !!.

We had a 2 night stay in Nelson and chose this property after searching the net and reading the Tripadvisor reviews.

The owners were fantastic to deal with. All communication was quick and friendly.

We were accomodated as a group of 5 in the Crows Nest which is the uppermost and newest of the buildings that make up Wheelhouse Inn. The access up the very steep drive is interesting but the pay off is in the superb view over Tasman Bay to the west. The Crows Nest is orientated to make the most of the view from every room and a great balcony which would be a real asset in times of better weather than we experienced during our visit.

The unit was spacious, modern, well furnished and very clean. It was well appointed to self cater should you choose. Dining options in nearby Nelson are fairly comprehensive. (Just don't drink too much before you tackle the driveway in the rain at night !)
We thought it was excellent value for money when compared to previous experiences with accomodation of a lesser quality.

The kids adjudged the bathroom and shower excellent which is their quaint benchmark for rating.

We have had the good fortune to experience fairly extensive travel as a family group and unanimously voted the Crows Nest as the best place we stayed at on our NZ holiday and some of the best accomodation we have experienced anywhere.

To sum up the Wheelhouse Inn - Excellent in every way. Nelson and surrounds has much to offer a family holiday.

The Wheelhouse Inn is comprised of 5 individual units on the property; we stayed in the Chart House Main Deck. The views of Tasman Bay from our unit were spectacular. You can enjoy the views of the bay, sailboats and mountains beyond from the deck or inside through the bay windows. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and nicely decorated. The kitchen allowed us to cook in when we felt like it, but if we wanted to eat out, the restaurants were minutes away by car. The free high speed internet access came in handy, but the best part about our stay is that it was affordable and great value.
