the day started with great weather so we decided to do a bike trip.
but where to go? rose showed us lots of nice opportunities.
she gave us all we need for a bike trip!
all the safety stuff and bikes are in a great condition.
it was nice to ride off the road, so you don't have to pay attention about the traffic.
we did a mixed tour with wine tasting, coffee stop, galleries & gift shops and beer degustation.
very exciting was the cyclepath along the sea with all the different characteristics.
i had a fantastic day on the bike. all i can do is to recommend it to everybody, because i would love to do it again if i've got enough time!!!!!!

We were invited to go out for the day on a bike ride and to have lunch in a winery. I'm not an experienced bike rider so was a bit apprehensive but I should not have worried, Rose picked us up in Nelson and drove us to where we'd get fitted up for our bikes, she returned us to Nelson when we'd finished. The bikes are fantabuloso, comfy seats, the handle bars are in a comfortable (sit up and beg) position, and they are well maintained with a box on the back to hold all your stuff, or perhaps the wine you buy from the winery. We were given helmets too, apparently it's the law in Nelson, however they were comfortable and stylish too! We visited a brewery that had the oddest interior design http://stokebeer.co.nz/ but the beer and cider is good so who cares. We just had a coffee but there was loads of other stuff like savoury and sweet muffins, cakes, biscuits, quiches, well worth a visit. After coffee we cycled to the Waimea Winery http://www.dineout.co.nz/restaurant.php?rest=3885 to have lunch, it was fab, I had the steak sandwich and it was gorgeous, for pudding I had a chocolate and hazelnut mille feuille which was to die for. Stuffed, we cycled back, no fuss, no drama, just a really enjoyable afternoon. Although having said that we did have some drama, one of our party got a flat tyre but it was resolved in a flash, we phoned Rose and she came out with another bike and off we went again. Superb service. I absolutely loved my Gentle Cycling Company experience, Nelson is a beautiful place and it makes sense to get out and see some of it, how better than on a bike.

Rose and her company outfitted us with appropriate bikes, helmets, safety vests and maps then turned us loose in the wine country outside Nelson to explore on our own. We leisurely cycled from winery to winery enjoying chatting with a few owners and tasting the local wines. We lunched at the Moutere Inn with the locals and smapled the local beers as well. It was a hassle free, care free way to independently enjoy a day. I highly recommend using Gentle Cycling Company to facilitate your adventure outside Nelson, NZ

Rose picked us up and dropped us back to nelson after our day. So much better than the driving tours that put you on someone else's timescale. stop at whichever vineyard for as long or short a time, the vineyards know their wines so why bother with a 'tour guide'
