“Good Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2011

A small motel located very close to the CBD. Easy walking distance to the cathedral, Queens Gardens and the restaurants and shops. Staff were very friendly and the motel is very new and very clean. Easy car parking and free internet (even if you don't have your laptop, there is a desktop you can use in the office). Rooms are air conditioned.

There is a microwave and dishwasher in the room but the rooms are very small and I imagine it would be quite difficult to cook in. Whilst it is centrally located there is no view from the balcony and I wonder if it wouldn't have been better staying at a hotel near the river?

We have been travelling around the South Island for two months and this is by far the best place we have stayed in. We stayed in one of their suites and it was immaculate, well designed and extremely comfortable. The bed was so comfortable that we had trouble getting up in the morning. Free internet was a bonus as was the free DVD library and washing and drying facilities were inexpensive at 6$. The lodge is an easy 5 minute walk into town where there were many restaurants and shops. The owners could not have done more for us and were so friendly we didn't want to leave, in fact we extended our stay by a couple of nights because we liked the place so much.

Stayed for 3 nights en route from Blenheim to Greymouth. Service was good. Provided cot and high chair for our baby after some prompting. Our hosts were helpful when we needed to find a doctor. Room was very nice - we had booked the Ambassador suite with separate bedroom. One of the very few places we stayed with free access to wifi. Located 10 mins from the town centre on foot. Lots of nice cafes in town. Nelson was nice but would probably have only stayed for 2 nights if we had our time again.

We stayed for 4 nights. The motel was immaculately presented and the hosts were very friendly and gave us good advice and maps of things to do around Nelson. The motel was the highlight of the trip also if your in Nelson make sure you visit Kaiteriteri Beach and Waikoropup-u (Pupu) Springs near Takaka is listed in Guiness as having the world's clearest water.

It's modern, it's comfortable, it's very clean, great location in Nelson city, and then top all these, it has very very good hosts!

I booked this motel back in April for Christmas. So glad I did that - it was probably the best motel in New Zealand. We've been to Nelson 3 times, and this one is doubtless the best.

We stayed in the presidential suite plus the executive studio next to it, the two of them had an interconnecting door, which made them perfect for a big family of 7. The apartments were spotless - even though it's been opened for a year, everything looks brand new. The top notch furnishing has been used, and the attention to detail is marvelous. Rooms are all very good sizes. Showers are very good pressure and plenty of hot water. Toiletries were pretty fancy too. We basically spent the first 10 minutes looking around, checking out our accomodation of 3 nights. Everything was nice.

Location wise this is pretty much centre of Nelson. About 3 minutes down the road there's a McDonald, and then another couple of minutes you are at the Trafalgar square where a few good restaurants and pubs are located. Somehow we didn't hear much street noise, which was good. We could also just walk to the Nelson market (on Montgomery Square), which was about 10 minutes' walk.

Complimentary internet was very much appreciated. And last but not the least, are the hosts. They really went out of their ways to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying your stay. These are people that truly enjoy what they are doing - and their high spirits and "hellos" will quickly put a smile on your face.

This is a very very good motel. The quality of service, room, and the awesome hosts, are very rarely found - but they are all here in Century Park. It deserves to be No.1. Thanks for a lovely stay.

I stayed here whilst visiting some friends of mine on their trip to Nelson. I had no previous knowledge about Century Park Motor Lodge, as my friends had kindly booked me in as a treat whilst visiting with them. However, I was extremely delighted at the cleanliness, well placed facilities, cute little outside area to sit in and feel of the room I had been allocated. It was also extremely central to the main shopping centre (which has changed somewhat since I last visited Nelson about 30 years ago!). My last short stays over the past couple of years have been in hotels; however this motor-lodge definitely beat those hands down!

Even though I do not have a mobility problem, I was given a room that catered for this and it was equally as comfortable for me as it would have been for someone wheelchair bound or experiencing mobility problems. Without a doubt I would recommend this room to my parents should they make the trip to Nelson with their mobility difficulties (I believe there are two mobility rooms at this motor lodge).

I highly recommend this motor lodge to all single, family and mobility impaired travellers!

We were looking for a place to stay last minute when our flight plans were altered by the Christchurch earthquake. They offered us a free upgrade and an unbelievable price. The room was pristine, classy, and well appointed. You pay for a Motor Lodge, but it feels like a luxury hotel inside. It is also just a 5 minute walk from the center of Nelson, which is a charming place in and of itself. They even offered to drive us to the airport twice; the first day to drop off our rental car, and the next for our flight to the north island. I've never been treated as kindly and generously as we were treated at Century Park. I can't recommend this place enough.
