Great place to visit with lots of fresh vegetables and baking plus many more home made crafts. We sat down and enjoyed a burrito from one of the food stalls and they were delicious. My partner had beef and I had the pork.

Loads and loads of stalls with lots of interesting crafts, and food stalls too. Just a tad expensive perhaps?

These Markets had a good mix of things, and there were a lot of fresh veges too! Bought several items, and especially enjoyed the herbed salt (5x bags for $20!!), fresh pear juice ($3 for a big glass), west coast pebble necklaces (what a selection), bone art by Japanese carver Fumio Noguchi (amazing talent), Merino/Possum wear, and the man who makes vintage aeroplanes etc out of soft-drink cans!!!
If you are into Retro (and pre-loved) clothing, there is a little shop (alongside, but not connected to these Markets) that's worth a look...love my lambswool jacket for just $10
We stayed at Century Park Motor Lodge, and it's an easy walk to these markets from there!
As with most markets, it's best to take plenty of CASH
Markets close at 1pm.
PS...thanks to the Dutchman who gave (yes gave!) us an oliebollen as I had run out of cash!

We go to Nelson each year and always enjoy a trip to the Nelson Saturday Market to enjoy the wide variety of goods on offer - something for everyone. I especially enjoy the art and crafts along with the fresh food , most of which are being sold by the artist/maker/grower. Unfortunatly this trip the weather wasnt good so only the hardcore stallholders were there with most of the craftholders not game to risk any rain. There is also a much smaller market in Motueka on Sunday mornings with a variety of stuff if you are passing is good to stop in at. The Sunday market in Nelson is quite different - mainly has 2nd hand bits and pieces -clothes, books, general stuff.
