In Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco you get a key for a small house. They all look very cosy on the outside and this creates some 'expectations' which - unfortunately - are not completely met on the inside. The rooms are sober with minimal and 'dated' furniture.
This absolutely does not feel like a hotel room but rather like a weekend cottage. For the record, there is a kitchen too.
The breakfast buffet offers a rather limited choice, we would rate it 'average'.
We also had dinner here ... again average but just acceptable : the first course was not good at all, the main course and dessert were just ok.
The service however was horrible : speedy but without finesse. Forks and knives that fell on the ground just stayed there and the worst still had to come ... At the end of the diner one of the servants dropped a lot of plates and cutlery on the stairs and even against the walls.
Another funny thing : we could not pay our drinks after dinner and we were asked to do this the next morning at the reception. No problem ... but we had to tell the receptionist what we had for drinks because they had no clue at all !More
