“Comfortable, clean, good value motel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2010

We had one night here during our tour of the south island. Just turned up without booking after we'd tried a couple of others and had no luck getting in. Glad we stayed here. We had a room on the first floor of the block furthest from (but facing) the road and it was lovely and quiet, so we had a really good nights sleep. The room was spotlessly clean, had a double bed plus one single and had a nice little balcony with furniture, overlooking the bowling green to the rear. Bathroom also spotless and well equipped, and overall we reckoned that the block we were in couldn't have been more than a year or so old. Absolutely no problems and we're happy to recommend it. While in Omaru there's some great food (and great beer) to be had at several of the pubs down the main street and a trip to watch the penguins come in from the sea at dusk is cool too. Whilst doing the latter and counting the penguins, also count how many times the Japenese tourists have to be told not to take photogaphs before they actually stop !!

We stayed there a few days before Christmas and were able to get a really great deal on a 2 bedroom place. It was luxury for us and we appreciated the discount (it was quiet and and we'd asked several places for their best price, but this was the most stylish). The room was very clean and comfortable. Latest appliances, awesome portacot on wheels with little bending required, and fantastic spa bath. The hosts were even willing to move us around so we could make the most of their spa bath. Our daughter really enjoyed it.
Quiet and peaceful with parking off the road (so safe). Great facilities - self contained but quality plates etc. They have really done a great job upgrading the rooms we were in.
Above all, the hosts were really friendly and offered to move our stuff for us. We would definitely stay again.
There is a restaurant on site but we found this immensely overpriced and not up to the standard with regards to health and safety. But, you don't have to eat there and normally you don't get a restaurant on site anyway!
Sky TV was great too even though we didn't use.
The two bedroom place had a dining table and an oven with dials that can be pushed in for safety with a young child.
Overall an awesome stay and we were really impressed.
Very stylish and modern.
Thanks

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of our 3 week trip to NZ. A solid budget choice, very little you can critiscise in terms of the basics. Everything worked well, clean, friendly.
Room was spacious, Like similar budget motels in NZ, kind of place that is more than acceptable to refresh and rejuvenate overnight but the kind of place you would want to hang around during the day.
Rooms were a bit dated but only the very fussy would be affected by this.
The motel is about a mile out of town on the main Christchurch - Dunedin highway - you need a car. Free wifi is by way of a 20mb voucher, not sure if further vouchers would be provided if you need it. The motel has onsite restaurant which was kind of strange. No menu is made availble in your unit for this onsite facility, but all the menu's of the rival main town centre restaurants were! As an added deterrent there was a $5 charge for charging your meal to your room. Got a very frosty reception when I ventured into the restaurant so ended up in the town centre options. However the restaurant was full every night with many locals and the evening menu was priced more expensive than than the town centre options which suggests it may be good quality food.

We arrived at the Heritage Court after 3 weeks in New Zealand for our last night, and really wished we could have stayed longer. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment, which was very well decorated, and the bathroom had a spa bath and a massive separte shower. We went to see the Blue Penguins while in Oamaru, which is an absolute must. We also found the town had gorgeous buildings and lots to offer for a few nights. The whiskey studios were excellent, which are located on the way to the blue penguin colony, which had whiskey tasing on the ground floor, and a fantatsic gallery on the first and second floors. The art work was very good, and if money and space had allowed, we would loved to have purchased a painting.

For a 2 night stay in Oamaru this accommodation was good value. Our room was large, with a double and single bed. The bathroom had a separate toilet and was also quite large. The place was clean, although decor could do with updating. It was adequate for us as we had a car so could drive into the centre of Oamaru but it might have taken a while to walk there otherwise. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. We paid NZD95 per night, which made it one of the cheaper places we stayed at in NZ and we had no problems and no complaints.

We pulled into the Heritage without reservations. They had a large, cozy room for under US $ 70. The room door was open on this late afternoon, and the room was flooded with sunlight. Comfortable double and a single bed, somewhat dated furniture. Felt somehow old fashioned. Obligatory towel warmer, small kitchen counter with small fridge. Wireless via phone card only but good speed. We stayed one night, used the motel's washer/dryer, did not eat at the restaurant. The lady at the reception was extremely friendly. The motel is a bit out of town, but you'll need wheels anyway. Great value for the price. Highly recommend.

We stayed at the Heritage Court for one night while going to view the Blue penguin and Yellow eyed penguins, which you can do independently or as we did on a coach trip with Bottom bus which also points out the Oamaru sights.
The motel was clean spacious and modern with a spa bath, and ideal for a stopover. We had breakfast in the adjoining resteraunt which was fine.
