Stop here instead of charging along the road. We thought we'd missed it as the description is 12km north of Oamaru - we actually found it was nearly 20 kms from the centre of Oamaru. Lots to look at in the little shops and that's without mentioning the Restaurant which is classily designed. We booked on the recommendation of a friend - so glad we did. Riverstone Kitchen is surrounded by lovely gardens - flowers & vegetables. Menu changing constantly according to season and quality. I have food allergies and they went out of their way to be so helpful - that is waitress & chef. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent local wine ostler caroline’s pinot noir 09, Waitaki valley- my husband's eyes rolled in his head when he had the dessert!

We stopped here on a recommendation and I'm glad we did, the food was excellent and the place was quite quirky too! Amazing how many of these places you must pass and never realise that they are there!

Had a most excellent fish and chips followed by a lovely vanilla custard flan with fresh blackberries to finish.

It was a beautifully presented and thoughtfully done meal.

If I had one minor criticism it is that the initial service was excellent, considering the place was almost full but towards the end of the meal the service got a little slower than I would have liked.. If we were sitting chatting then we probably wouldn't have noticed, but as we were travelling we were mindful of continuing our journey and it was more apparent, other than that I cannot fault this place and would recommend anyone to stop for an excellent meal.

We loved Riverstone. Service food & atmosphere were fantastic. Menu is seasonal, very tasty and well priced. We dined with 4 adults and 2 children, kids were very well catered for. They didn`t want to continue heading north on the family holiday but instead wanted to stay and play in the amazing playground. The grounds are fantastic to wander around in.

Very dissapointing. After rave reviews from family & friends I was left unsatisfied. Service was fine. Setup was great, very family orientated but unfortunately the food was a let down. Chicken was bland and unseasoned. Greens were too bitter and potato's had been burnt. I will defnatel not be travelling back out to Riverstone !!-

Booked several mths in advance, as we wanted to spend our special occassion at Riverstone.
So very glad we chose this place, the food was wonderful.
We chose the degustation menu, which was a taste of everything this place represents. Fresh produce from their own garden, beautifully cooked, and presented. The wait staff was very pleasant, and informative and knowledgable about the menu. We had a superb meal right down to the coffee.
This is a lovely place, and well worth visiting to wander through their gift barns and garden, which we did the following day.
