We spent 2 nights here in Oamaru. It is a great value for the money. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. It is only a short distance from downtown and a easy walk or drive. We had booked well in advance, but there was a rugby match in town that night. If you had arrived without reservations it would have been had to find a room any where, let along as nice as this.

This is fast becoming a favourite place to stay. Nice rooms, comfortable beds and charming, friendly hosts. The only thing I would change is to have a proper dining table, but that one shortfall is so very easy to overlook considering the overall experience. All in all, a great time.

This place was great. As soon as we walked into the reception we were greated with a friendly face, we were given a map and told where to go and what we should do. The room was big, nice and clean. I couldn't fault this place and would definitely recommend it.

Graham & Sunniva from Estes Park, Colorado, USA .

Finding what Americans would consider "good value" accommodation in New Zealand isn't easy. Highfield Mews motel has it and then some. We had a single day in Oamaru and this is an ideal place from which to explore the town and nearby sights. 5 minutes from downtown. More to the point, the room we stayed in was exceptionally well appointed and offered every conceivable facility, including a full-service self-catering capability for those who don't always want to pay the high prices for eating out in NZ. Best value we have seen in 5 weeks in NZ. Clean, spacious room, friendly staff. What more could you want?

Room Tip: Some rooms have an extra single bed in them.

We pulled into Oamaru on the Sunday night of Labour Weekend without accommodation and it was surprisingly difficult to find availability on line. But we found this gem. I think we got the last room on the Sunday and stayed 2 nights and think we were one of 2 rooms. The standard and service didn't alter with either extreme.
We had an upstairs room at the back of the complex, double glazed, warm and so so quiet - it was fabulous. Spa bath for 2.
Small kitchenette with microwave and a hob so could cook if you wanted to, also a laundry available to guests with no time limits (both dryers and washing machines) which half way through the trip was very welcome. Our balcony was positioned for a view and it was a shame it was a bit too chilly late at night to utilise it.
Very friendly hosts and staff. Very good location - we pretty much parked and walked.
New bed very comfortable.
This was at the higher end of the prices we paid throughout the Queenstown, Wanaka, Dunedin and Cromwell areas but was lovely, new and worth it.
