Warning. This will be a long review, as I want to make sure I have captured everything during my one night stay.
The hotel is located by the Copenhagen Airport, which was suitable for me as I had a morning flight to Greenland (you can reach the hotel directly through terminal, without going outside (it’s very good, especially if it’s raining outside).
Before I have even checked in to the hotel, I got several mails, offering to self check-in. It wouldn’t be anything abnormal if the mail got the following statement: “so simple, even a man can do it”. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!? This was offensive on so many levels. I don’t know if they were trying to be funny or what. I found it disgusting.
I decided not to do a self check-in and went to reception. A very nice receptionist asked me if I would like to join their loyalty program. The only benefit she was able to mentioned was a discount on my next stay. I declined.
I went to my room on 4th floor and I was quite surprised how many refurbishment works were happening on this floor (pictures attached). I went downstairs to the reception to ask, since the hotel has 12 floors, why not to close the 4th floor completely, as this is not a good thing to experience. I was really surprised when the gentleman behind his PC wasn’t aware there are any refurbishment works happening...Warning. Then I went to have a dinner. Unfortunately, another disappointment has hit me. I ordered cocktail (it was very good), olives, soup and french fries. I didn’t want to order so many little things, but I had to. When I asked for burger and asked to be medium done, I was told it’s impossible. I asked the chef to come over and he explained that this is hotel policy. I understand risks and I appreciate hotel policies, but first of all, this could be written in the menu, so I wouldn’t waste my time. Second of all, the chef could ask me if I want to take a “risk”. But he didn’t.
So, back to my substitutes - I got my drinks and olives, but soup and fries never arrived. I got hungry and angry. I asked for the bill, saying it’s a little bit ridiculous to wait for such a long time for such a simple dishes. The nice waitress said it is really ridiculous and she offered to have my drink and olives on the house. Although it was a nice service recovery, I was still hungry. So I went to the airport to grab something to eat. Not good at all.
Since I’m a smoker, I was going once so often outside to have a cigarette. The ashtray that was placed next to the main entrance was not cleaned since I arrived at 2pm until late night. Just next day morning I could see it’s clean. How do I know that? When I arrived, there was a mug on the top on the ashtray and it was removed only day after. It’s really, really poor.
In the morning I had breakfast and I must say it was really nice. There was plenty of food to choose from and anyone would find something nice to have.
Overall, since I was staying over only for one night, I survived. It’s not like this hotel is a total disaster, but on the day of my stay many things went wrong.
Sometimes simple convince of the location is not enough and if I will be coming to Copenhagen for one night only, I will not be staying at this hotel.More
