Annesley House was originally built in 1878, originally a doctor’s surgery and private residence, Annesley House was converted to a guest house in the early 1900s. the charming Annesley House offers free Wi-Fi, free parking and elegantly restored accommodation. It is located in Portland along the Great Ocean Road.

The spacious suites and apartments at Annesley each feature a sofa, a flat-screen TV and a DVD player. All are equipped with heating and a fan and a functional kitchen.

Guests can enjoy the gardens, barbecue facilities and a guest lounge. Communal laundry facilities are also provided.

Annesley House is within walking distance of the shops and cafes at Portland Harbour. Melbourne City is only 362 km away.

On the second Monday of June Australia celebrates the Queen's Birthday and at Portland a hundred or so fishermen gather for a weekend of tuna fishing, were after making land the fishermen gut and clean the fish and one can buy fresh tuna. Never seen anything like it before.

Stayed here for three nights of very clean and comfortable accommodation with a first rate welcome from the owner, including complimentary strawberries and a glass of port. The cottage is full of character and well equipped for your stay. Portland itself is a delightful town with outstanding beaches and a beautiful coastline; plenty to see and do both in the town and around and about. Highly recommended and will certainly stay at Annesley House the next time in the area.

We had a nice time in this grand old house. It was very homely and unique and very easy to relax. Not really a hotel more like someones old mansion at the coast. We stayed upstairs with ocean views. Had a chance to look at all the rooms and they were all nice. Rosalie's retreat was our pick or the Bay tree suite with its little sun room and extra bed. Mark was very helpful to organize a tuna fishing charter. We got to take the host dog Sid for 'Walkies' down to the pier. It is a unique stay we could have stayed longer and will be back.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are very large. Call Mark while choosing a room he is very helpful and easy to speak...

Annesley house has been restored beautifully with a number of apartments. If you are wanting modern accommodation this is not for you. it is a period property with period funriture. The wadmore room has a four poster bed and is very comfortable. The layout of the room is quirky e.g bath/shower in room with a curtain for privacy. Toilet is a separate cubicle! Breakfast can be provided but it is not a tradional bed and breakfast. Lots of cafes to visit though!

I chose Annesley House for a quick get away. We stayed in the Wadmore Room (honeymoon suite), it was beautiful. We relaxed in peace and quiet for a 2 night stay, with the esplanade a short stroll away to get dinner. Value for money was exceptional with extra little touches like fresh strawberries from the local strawberry farm and complimentary port for that extra charm. The building itself is beautiful and has been restored lovingly. We had a great chat with the owner about the history of Annesley House. Will definateley stay there again. I'll take high ceilings, old world charm and complete privacy any day over a motel chain.

Room Tip: The Wadmore is perfect if you don't want to cook , there is a fridge so I suggest heading to the...

We had a lovely stay at the Annesley House. We happened upon this purely by chance and only needing a overnight stay and got the last room. It has been renovated beautifully and Mark was helpful, friendly and informative. We will definitely be staying on our next visit.
