“Incredible place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2012

Fabulous centre and well worth a visit. From the Aboriginal people and their stories, to the arrival of the white settlers to present day, the interactive and static displays are amazing ... we actually were unable to fit it all in on our first visit and were given a pass out to come back the next day which we really appreciated.
It certainly lived up to what was promised ... an outback experience ... and in addition the staff in the reception area were extremely helpful and friendly, giving us advice for the next leg of our trip up to Uluru and Alice.

I am really happy you enjoyed your visit to the Wadlata Outback Centre and especially our Flinders Ranges & Outbacks "Tunnel of Time" and I will make sure our Tourism Officers know they helped you for your next leg of your journey. We genuinely like to make our visitors happy so thank you for letting us know. We believe the Tunnel of Time is the starting off point for your journey into the Flinders Ranges or the Outback of SA or it seems to put everything into perspective if you have just been there. Dont forget you can use the Pass Out on your return trip, even in 6 months time...as we like to give you every opportunity to really experience every part of our Region even though it is under one roof.
Kind regards....Pauline

“Worth a visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2012

Beautiful Centre will everything you should need while travelling. They have excellent customer service and plenty of visitor information as well as some great souvenirs and maps and things to keep the little ones entertained! The interpretive display is amazing! The price ($15 for adults) may scare some people but is worth paying! You could spend the entire day in there, learning about Aboriginal and early settlement/exploration history and so much more. Finish the afternoon off with a nice afternoon tea from their cafe which has some beautiful local 'bush food'. Will be back for sure!

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2012

This was an amazing discovery centre. It was interesting with lots of interactive displays to keep you enthused. Also there was lots of information about a whole range of things from aboriginal heritage, the first settlers in the area, the building of the ghahn railway through to modern day information e.g. olympic dam mining. We spent nearly 3 hours here. Definitely worth a visit if you are nearby.

“Average tourist attraction”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2012

We visited here and spent a couple of hours wandering through. Cost was $15 per adult and I think $9 or children. I don't think it was worth $30 but some aspects were interesting. Its basically a series of movies as you wander through explaining about how aborigines first lived and then the europeans came etc and a bit about the dinosaur age, ice age and then through to the present. You would need quite alot of time to watch every video and if you don't stop to watch the videos you would walk through it in 10 minutes and not experience much. We had lunch at the end, the burgers were cheap and average and the cakes are not bad, homestyle. The coffee which claims to be the best this side of Adelaide was terrible so was a bit dissapointed. There isnt alot to do or see in Port Augusta so if your bored this was worth a look but if not I wouldn't bother. We should have gone to see the arid botanic gardens which is free and you can have lunch there too.

Hi..Thank you for your comments as we really care about our visitor's views and we take all comments on board and try and rectify any shortfalls that may need attention.. I am really sorry you thought Wadlata was an average attraction, which has indeed won 6 State Tourism Awards and a 2nd place in the National Tourism Awards from 7 nominations and last year had 112,000 visitors. Once again thank you for your views.
Kind regards..Pauline

“Worth a look”

We lunched there. Food was no more no less than to be expected. Have been before but entry to gallery was a little overpriced so we declined to enter. Would still go back again. Worth a visit if you have not been there.

Hi...I am sorry you did not experience Wadlata's Tunnel of Time due to the cost, however Wadlata was a 3.6 million dollar 1988 Bi Centennial project and we have just completed a $1 million dollar upgrade over the past few years. With all paid staff and huge overheads we have to charge a fee for this award winning experience. The average person would take 1.5 - 2 hours to experience the Interpretive displays with many visitors spending 4 - 5 hours..and a pass out is provided.... Next time you are passing or just visiting for a refreshment break please make yourself known where I will be able to explain more or provide you with a sneek preview. Thanks so much for calling in and taking the time to comment. Kind regards Pauline
