Owner description: Sawn Rocks is a 40 metre basalt rock cliff face featuring ‘perpendicular-octagonal shaped rocks, resembling a giant series of organ pipes’ & looks as though it was created by some architectural firm rather than nature.

Whilst not wheelchair friendly all the way it is certainly one of the few spectacular natural wonders that elderly people can still easily negotiate with the reward at the end of the short walk stunning! Don't forget to stop and not smell the roses but enjoy the delightful little wildflowers along the path.

Easy walk from the car park. Take your own water as the tank water needs to be boiled before drinking.

Easy walk to the site and very accessible from The Bingara road.
Take time to descend to the creek bed for a better view.

Sawn Rocks is located about 36kms from Narrabri in the Mt Kaputar National Park.
The towering wall of pentagonal basalt columns look like the Opera House's organ pipes. This unusual volcanic phenomenon is well worth the short drive from town and then the 750 meter track from the car park. The views along the track to the rocks are beautiful so make sure you stop to take a peek.

Be warned there are Emus on the road between Narrabri and the Park and they are erratic runners that don't mind taking their chances with traffic!

Went here for a BBQ and walk with family, it is an absolutely lovely place very peaceful and relaxing, the BBQ is great just need to bring your food with you sorry we don't have these at home, the walks are beautiful through the trees and when you get closer to the rock formations you can't believe your eyes, it reminded us of the Giant's Causeway back home in Northern Ireland. The kids enjoyed going down to the creek bed and walking up this. All in all a very lovely place to go and see.
