Stayed here last week for a night. Friendly, efficient check in. Room very clean and well appointed. Almost a full size fridge which I am sure would be ideal for longer stays or for families. Appreciated the pump soap which is preferable over bar soap. Spa bath was fab. Had a good sleep. Absolutely no complaints and would most definitely stay again. Cheers.

Room Tip: We requested a room away from the road and had no issues at all with any noise.

The motel is situated on the main road to Christchurch but our room was located near the rear of the property and consequently we did not hear any traffic noise. The check-in process was completed with the minimum of fuss and we were also given lots of information on the locality.

The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the town, down a steep hill. A little further from the main shopping/restaurant area is an excellent restaurant called The White Morph. I suggest a reservation is made to avoid disappointment.

We stayed for three nights. The motel has a heated swimming pool which we and some of the other guests used - it was really refreshing after a long journey. The motel also had an outside spa which guests could book for a small fee.

Our room was fairly large and the bathroom had a large spa bath with a flexible shower above it. The room had a kitchenette which we only used to make hot drinks. A small wardrobe contained the ironing board and iron but left little space for storage. A desk unit offered a small amount of drawer storage.

Everything worked and the room was very clean.

The owners made us very welcome and we would stay there again.

We spent two nights here. Great location. A short and enjoyable downhill walk to Kaikoura's town centre. Clean rooms. Modern facilities. Hosts were very friendly. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool (total bonus).

Only downsides: (1) the rooms were a tad small given the price, and (2) having to pay a small fee for use of the spa pool.

Kaikoura is a great part of the world. The Gatway Motor Lodge is a good place to stay; would definitely recommend.

Clean room with good facilities. The bathroom was was clean, and had a good sized bath/shower. The kitchenette contained all we needed. Unfortuneately the air-con leaked water all over the bed during the night which made for a slightly interupted evening.
Pool was lovely and the office staff were friendly.
Parking for the rear units is VERY tight - need to reverse in so you can actually get your car out in the morning!!!

Everything from check-in to check-out was great!! Rooms are modern and very tasteful, hosts very friendly and helpful and had great recommendations for dinner! The town centre is just a short walk from the motel through the park.
A big thumbs up to this one!
