Great cottages more than just a motel unit. Friendly Kiwi Hosts pursue a high standard regarding presentation of this accomodation and go out of their way I felt to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
For us escaping for a short break from the City ,the surrounding mountains and
nearby animal enviroment of this cottage location sure makes one feel a world away.

We stayed one night at Kaikoura cottage motel and just loved it. The cottages are self contained and situated at the northern end of Kaikoura. The cottages are perfect for families or couples. They have 8 units and each are separate situated amongst beautiful native gardens. Across the road is the beach. If you don't mind not being in the middle of the town this place is for you. Its quiet, peaceful and the owners are very friendly. Huge range of dvd's to borrow also. Highly recommend this motel.Great value.

We actually stayed here on our honeymoon 31/2 years ago, we accidentally came across the place late one afternoon and were very impressed with the friendliness and help.
The cabins looked brand new, and were very comfortable. We only stayed one night but we plan to return in August this year, we will be in the south island for 2 weeks touring all the places we went to before and ones we missed last time.
We unfortunately don't have photos as we lost over 1,000 of our honeymoon photos when a computer crashed, you can be sure we will retake all the ones we lost and we wont be loosing them again this time.

My 3 year old called it the three bears cottage. Fantastic views, good value, friendly and helpful hosts. We spent 3 nights there. The kids played in the on site park, we had a BBQ in our own private little lawn, rooms were made up daily, fabulous. They even emailed us after we left as my 9 year old had lost his wallet there, which they found and posted back. Highly recommend.

We spent two delightful evenings at Kaikoura Cottage Motels.

The new one bedroom with kitchen and covered porch was very nicely furnished and had its own yard/garden. We paid a very reasonable NZ $120 (about $62 US) for the cottage.

Owner hosts Rae and Darrell could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. They provided a gas BBQ and an extra cooking pot on request. There is a coin laundry on the premises and a large playground for guests with children. They also allow you to borrow (free) DVDs from their considerable collection.

We were delighted and recommend the property to others!

Check out their website for photos and particulars.

We stayed here for a couple of nights last December during our first visit to South Island and Kaikoura. We loved the motel, it was in a nice, quiet setting and the views were absolutely amazing! The hosts were very polite and friendly and the rooms were clean and well furnished. The free DVD library is a bonus too. It's a fair bit out from town which wasn't a problem for us as we had a car and it meant it was a peaceful setting. Fairly easy to find and very picturesque!

ask for cottage 6 or 7 as these have the best views. hosts were very accommodating. cottages are quite spacious and clean only 3 t.v channels but the hosts have a good up to date free dvd collection. hob, microwave and everything else you would expect in a holiday cottage this is worth a look as just on edge of town. kaikoura is a nice place but you only need a couple of days there 3 was enough for us.
