Having read good reviews of this motel it was the first one we tried in Kaikoura and we were lucky they had vacancies. Craig was in the office and was very friendly and helpful. First he showed us an ocean view room, but as we live near the sea we took the cheaper option. It was still a lovely room. High vaulted ceilings, and large glass patio doors made it very light & airy.
The furnishings were tateful & of good quality including a coffee table in front of the sofa, a small thing often missing in studios, but so useful! The kitchen was well equipped & there was a dining table & chairs. 2 electric rings, a microwave, fridge & plenty of pots & pans and other kitchen equipment made it easy to self cater for dinner.
We also had a small terrace but it was not really warm enough to sit out. I think we may have even used the heater!
Craig also booked our whale watching tour for us, and recommended restaurants & other things to do.
We would definately return to the Anchor Inn and would recommend to others without hesitating.
