What a great place to stay! Beautifularea to walk and take in the ocean beauty. The room was lovely with a place for everything. We enjoyed having a sofa and table and also a dining table w/chairs as we needed to use the computer. There is very good wifi here. Our hosts were very helpful and gracious with tips on where to go for long and lovely walks. We would recommend the Anchor Inn to anyone as our experience was terrific in every way.

We just stayed here one night but wished we had been staying longer. Efficient booking and very welcoming owners. The room was clean, attractively furnished and well equipped and had a lovely view out to sea. It is in a nice, quiet part of Kaikoura but within easy walking distance of the town and some very good restaurants (we have tried two of them). We did not find the windows a problem as it is towards the far end of the town so very few people are walking by.

What a fabulous view out to sea from our lovely motel room. It was nice to stay in a motel and have our own independence. We cooked in our little kitchenette - which was well kitted out with clean and matching utensils and crockery. We really enjoyed the spa bath too. A really good base for our two days in Kaikoura.

Stayed here for a long weekend with my husband. Friendly, efficient service from the first phone call.

Rooms are clean, well equipped and have everything you could want. Lovely view out to sea and of the mountains to the side of the complex.

Great location - easy walk into town.

The footpath and the road are very close to the complex, would be nice if you could open the curtains to let light in without feeling on display when having a cuppa in bed in the morning! Blinds or net curtains would do the trick. But that's a small detail.

Definitely recommend this place.

Family holiday with our 3 kids 6, 4 & 2. Extremely clean and tidy. The owners / staff were very friendly and nothing was a hassle to accommodate our family providing a pull out bed.
Lovely 2 bedroom unit with bedrooms upstairs and views of the beach across the road and mountains across the bay.

Great little playground right across the road on the beach front. Kids loved staying here.

Can not speak highly enough of the Anchor Inn. Our great trip to Kaikoura was topped off by a great place to stay.

This was the best place we stayed in while in New Zealand. Like a little Chalet :)

Very nice staff. Will definitely stay here again if we return to Kaikoura.

It was great having two different levels, and the views were great.

We chose this motel because of the reviews and the fact that we wanted to do the Peninsula Walkway. It turns out that if you do the long walk round trip from Fyffe Quay, this motel is right on the walk. When we checked in, we were greeted by Keith and given an upgrade from the standard studio room, we had booked, to an executive studio. Keith gave us a small bottle of milk and showed us to our room. It was #2, which is a corner room. It had French doors that opened towards the ocean, which was just across the street, and windows down the side. It felt very airy. The room, kitchenette and bathroom, with jacuzzi tub, were all very modern and up to date. Keith pointed out the features of the room and suggested several restaurants within walking distance. Besides the kingsize bed, there was a table and chairs and a couch.

There was free WiFi, but you had to stand near the door to get a strong enough signal to connect. There was a guest laundry. The charge to wash and for 20 minutes of dry time was only NZ$2 each. This is a great deal since everywhere else we had been, and paid the day before, was NZ$5 for washing and drying. There was even a place you could wash your car. I did no use this service, after all, it is a rental car.

We enjoyed our stay here and would gladly go back.

Room Tip: Get the corner room, #2.
