Great setting in a Lavender Farm with a wooden cottage set with spectacular views of the farm and a small vinyard. There was a fresh cut lavender, Kiwi cookies and a basket of fresh fruits to welcome us. The cottage had a spa bathroom with lavender soap, shampoo and bath soap continued the lavender theme. The pine wood cottage was very cosy with the whole cottage surrounded by flowers and fruit trees. There was even fresh lemons for the tea. There was freshly baked bread with fresh free range eggs, their own honey, home made jam and yogurt for breakfast. Altogether a delightful experience with wonderful hosts who were friendly and helpful.

This is the place you've got to go if you're looking for a romantic, quiet stay (event with small children). Corey & Jan are the perfect hosts, catering for you as if you were a family member. The cottages are settled in their Lavender farm, a pituresque place to take pictures or just relax. One cottage offers a bath in the garden, Corey provides fresh Lavender water - we felt like in heaven taking a bath out there at night. Corey, your homemade bread was very delightful, we felt very welcome and definitely wanna come back one day... ;-). Back home we think about our trip a lot and we talk about you guys. Take care and please, keep us updated about the further steps you're taking with our future project ;-). See ya... Sandra, Thomas & Nico

Stayed at Dylans Country cottages for 2 nights at the beginning of January. The hosts were very welcoming and accomodating. The rooms consist of 2 self contained units and we stayed in the smaller unit. This consisted of a living room with TV, IPOD dock, very small kitchen area and sofa bed. The small toilet/shower room was also on the ground floor. Upstairs was an open plan bedroom. There was also an outside shower and bath in a private garden area. Lavender bath oil was provided by the hosts and I found the bath an ideal way of relaxing after a busy day. The unit was very quaint, clean and felt cosy and welcoming. I travelled in a party of 3 and this smaller unit, even though able to cater for upto 4 people, was fine for a couple of nights but would be impracticle for 3 or 4 people for any longer. It is ideal for a couple and quite romantic. Our hosts made us aware of the small size of the unit before we travelled, so there were no disappointments. I believe the second unit is larger and more practicle for more people. Breakfast consisted of juice, cereals, eggs from the chickens reared by the hosts and fantastic home made muffins and bread. The grounds are beautiful and consist of gardens where lavender is grown and harvested. A very good shop selling a range of lavender products is on site. I travelled around the whole of New Zealand for nearly 3 weeks and Dylans was one of the best places that we stayed. It is definately worth considering if you are staying in the Kaikora area.

Dylans Country Cottages, located within Lavendyl Lavender Farm just out of Kaikoura, exceeded even our high expectations. Surrounded by the scent of lavender and the purposeful humming of bees, staying in a beautifully set-up cottage and with the warmest welcome possible from our hosts Corry and Jan, we had the most relaxing and re-invigorating few days possible. Breakfast is included in the tariff and consisted of a home-baked loaf of bread each day together with freshly laid eggs from the hens living in the orchard, home-made muesli, jams and lavender marmalade (delicious, and I don't even like marmalade usually) as well as milk, butter and juice which were refilled each day - and always something extra, such as muffins still warm from the oven or lavender shortbread - it was simply wonderful and always a treat to check the box outside the back door to see what had been left! You can wander around the fields of lavender at will and the kids enjoyed having the hens and a couple of sheep living close by the cottage. It might be harder with younger children - the stairs in the cottage are fairly steep - but for us it was the perfect few days and we can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks Corry!

My recent stay at Dylans Cottage/ Lavender Farm was simply the best! Starting with the wonderful Lavender Products I was given to use: hair shampoo, conditioner, handwash, lavender honey and fresh fruit. The private outdoor bath in the evening under the trees - again with lavender products to soak in - was so relaxing after a long drive.

The first morning my taste buds were delighted with the delicious freshly baked bread and newly laid eggs. Second morning there were equally delicious freshly baked scones. The Hosts are really warm and friendly, prepared to explain the workings of the Lavender Farm, and spend time chatting on a range of subjects. Lovely people.

It was a joy to stroll around the Lavender fields at sunset, with the Kaikoura mountains as a backdrop. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a special B & B experience.... and who wouldn’t?

This is an excellent place to stay right near the city. It's quiet, very pretty and the hosts/owners are great. We wish we could have stayed longer and would definitely stay there again when visiting the area.

We spent two nights in the Mahoe Cottage and had an amazing break. The cottage was very clean and as it was a chilly night Corry had left the heater on for us when we arrived. The outside bath was very romantic with candles and matches provided for us, we didn't use the outside shower but will try that next time we are there (there is a shower inside too).
For breakfast Corry left a freshly baked loaf in the box on the wall outside the cottage (this box is used to leave all sorts of goodies and baking!). We had their fresh eggs, cereals, home made jams, honey, juice and a good selection of tea and coffee in the cottage for us. For the second morning we had some bread left over but Corry made us sultana scones - I can recommend these.
The evenings were very quiet which is what we wanted and we took a wander around the grounds admiring the lavender and other interesting plants. The gardens are very well tended and you can also go into the vineyard and explore.
We were provided with lovely lavendar soap, shampoo and conditioner not to mention the lavendar oil for the bath......very relaxing.
The bed was very comfortable and we also had very nice fluffy bath robes.
Corry and Jan have obviously gone to a lot of trouble to make the cottages a good place to stay and there were many personal touches around the place.
Very relaxing and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Kaikoura.
