Paul & Janet are the native NZs' who own and operate this stunning residence. Their genuine, from the heart hospitality, was overwhelming and sincere. They are two wonderful people with big hearts. The location is near the ocean and scenic from it's vantage point. The Factory is out of the way but within a beautiful drive of the town. The accomodations are beautifully appointed and unique. We absolutely found Paul and Janet's factory to be the highlight of our trip to New Zealand!

We stayed at The Factory in January as part of my husbands 50th birthday. This was our last night and just wished we had stayed for more nights! We were there with our son and he still raves about it! From the moment we arrived we were treated like one of the family, with nothing being too much trouble. The design of the rooms were a credit to Janet, with so much attention to detail! The breakfast the next day was sublime and the coffee made by Paul was perfect! So the factory ticked all of the boxes, and we would certainly recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: Book way ahead, as I am sure the word is getting out there that this is the place to stay!

This was the first port of call for us on our holiday and well needed , and it truly was a lovely few days, Firstly Janet and Paul made you feel welcome as soon as you arrived and the kids couldnt decide between the tray of food or the tree hut , the hut won out for a short time!
The building is unique and has been stunninly down out with everything you would need, I have at last realised my leaning in home deocr Thank you! now to implement it.
Breakfast was DELICIOUS every morning and Janet so thoughtfully accomadated our dietry needs, and Pauls coffee was superb! Just across the road was the beach most invigorating to walk along and hopefully catch the sight of a dolphin or two which we did! The beds were comfy and the soap range excellent and a BBQ that goes and a very stylish one at that!
Thank you Janet and Paul for making our stay so right! and the children still talk of THE FACTORY!

Room Tip: It is all fantastic

The Factory, owned and operated by Janet and Paul Boocock, has it all. Unique restored factory filled with modern/tasteful/interesting furnishings. Comfortable, clean and relaxing to the highest degree. Listen to the ocean waves hit the shore at night. Great location: walk along dramatic black sand, deserted beach, through tall beach grasses or among beautiful flowers in the garden. Fabulous breakfast (much home grown --or laid (chickens on site)-- or pulled from owner's lobster/crayfish trap. Interesting and welcoming hosts, who are also good listeners. You can even come by helicopter, as the prior owner installed a small helipad and helicopter storage shed on the property. Don't worry if you leave the helicopter at home. Those features are unobtrusive and you have to ask questions to find out about them. Excellent choice for a relaxing and/or romantic stay. I recommend The Factory highly.

I loved the Factory. This was a great place to decompress after 30+ hours traveling to get to New Zealand. Beautiful property, comfortable and spotless accommodations, a warm welcome, and hosts that were eager to meet our every need. Janet and Paul went above and beyond- sharing a fish Paul caught with us, making it possible for my husband to surf- they even cooked up the puau my husband managed to find! We only stayed for two nights, but I would have been happy to stay longer. Don't hesitate- book a few nights at the Factory!

Thanks so much for your kind review - it was fun to chat with you both and glad you enjoyed your time here. We were very pleased your husband got to have a surf at Mangamaunu - it is such a lovely long right-hand break and thank you so much for your book! I read it all in one day. Hope the rest of your holiday went well.

We begun are our honeymoon staying three nights at The Factory. What a fabulous place.. tastefully decorated not a single detail was overlooked to make our time there extra special. Three bedrooms to choose from, under floor heating, log fire and state of the art entertainment system with blue ray films we happily hunkered down.

A bottle of great sparkling NZ wine left in the fridge every night, nibbles shaped in hearts on our arrival, three course breakfasts and the best flat whites we have had in a long time, it was painful to leave.. We still miss the hot tub , the deserted beach on our doorstep and on the last day as we we were leaving standing on the misty beach banging rocks together to see two Dolphins swim in to say goodbye ... it was magical!!

Our Hosts Janet and Paul were warm, friendly - nothing was too much trouble - we really enjoyed meeting them..

If you want a luxurious 5 star get away experience with a cool kiwi twist then this is the place for you.. After travelling extensively throughout the world staying in top notch hotels and B & B's this is truly world class.

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments about your stay at The Factory. So glad your wedding was so spectacularly successful - we loved seeing the photos. It was a pleasure to be able to help make your honeymoon special with a little help from the Hector's Dolphins!
