Stayed 3 nights and had a very enjoyable time. Extremely friendly proprietors who went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Had more than the required facilities needed and would return anytime

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay at our motel. We treat our visitors as we would like to be treated when travelling ourselves. So glad you had a good time.

Great Things:
-heated mattresses
-DVDs to borrow
-Free breakfast in the room, including coffee and teas
-Extra pillows and a heater
-Free wireless internet

Not So Great Things:
-The shower only had a CURTAIN dividing the shower from the rest of the bathroom, so it was a swamp every time we showered, and never dried
-The hotel is literally the first thing you come to within Kaikoura. The heart of town was about a mile away, and we had to walk. No bus or transit system available that we could find

Very comfortable aside from the bathroom and the location. I would stay there again, but would need to find an alternate travel solution if i were travelling with other family members.

Thank you for your effort to give feedback on our motel. On all websites that we advertise, we advise people to let us know in advance if they have no transport, so we can organize ourselves and pick you up and drop you off where ever you want to go. Unfortunately I was away for 2 weeks, when you stayed at our motel and my wife hasn't got a drivers license, otherwise we would have been happy driving you into town etc. I admit the public transport system in Kaikoura is no good. I'm looking at installing a heavier shower curtain, so water doesn't go astray through the rest of the bath room.

The room was nice, big, and comfortable. But like other reviewers, I had to wear earplugs because of the noise from the street. But the price wasn't too bad, so if you can mange the loud trucks all night, then this hotel is nice.

Thank you for your feedback, though a bit late I must admit. Not sure which room you stayed in, but admittedly, some rooms cop a fair bit of noise from ignorant truck drivers who think they are on a racing track. We do supply earplugs and with the double glazing in the units, the noise is kept to a minimum, but some nights I'm pulling my hair out not knowing what to do about some of the trucks thundering past. Since you stayed we have also erected an eco-fence to muffle the road noise. Thank you for a good score card nevertheless.

On the main road into town, so very noisy. Ear plugs are essential... It also is quite a bit away from the centre, so you do need a car, otherwise it is a long walk. Reception is very friendly, rooms good size (though a little dated) and clean. Not necessarily my first choice, but still good value.

Sorry about the time it has taken to respond, but I'm new at this. Since your stay, we have erected an eco-fence (Apr 2012) to muffle the road noise. We are happy to pick people up or drop them off with our car if necessary. The motel was build in 2000. I am the new owner, since Aug 2011, and this winter I have painted all rooms, wall papered some and changed lighting in others. We are continuously upgrading and updating. Thank you for your positive feedback.

First, I would largely discount reviews that have not been done for this hotel that are more than a year or two old. The new owner is quite helpful and easy to work with, and the place is now well managed and very comfortable. The hotel, itself, is relatively small, and situated just after you turn on to the road in to town. While that makes it easy to find, it is also a bit far out of the main part of town, so to access many things (like most of the restaurants), you need to drive.

The rooms at the Comfort Inn are relatively spacious, and would work very well for a family of four to live out of for a few days as the kitchen has what you will need and the rook itself is relatively large. We found the beds comfortable, and the other facilities to work well for us. There is room out back to sit. There are washing facilities on site, and it was no problem using them.

While we we there for only one night, we thought highly of the place, with the main deficiti is its location a bit far from the main part of town.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights December 2011 and had a great time at the motel and in Kaikoura. The new owners were very friendly, helpful and made good restaurant /cafe recommendations. Our room was clean, tidy and the double-glazed windows meant we didn't notice the road traffic. The free wireless internet access was a bonus. We had a rental car, so 3 minutes drive into town was easy. There's a 2 minute walk to a huge deserted sandy beach that stretches for kms in either direction. Plenty of things to do in and around town and the Whale Watch is very professional. No hesitation recommending this motel and we'll definitely stay here again.
