We were looking for a feed of what Kaikoura is famous for - fresh crayfish! We got the platter plus a medium size cray, all cooked on the spot. We chose takeaway but you can enjoy it and the roadside tables. The whole platter of paua and crayfish fritters, shrimp, scollops, mussels and fish on bread, rice and salad was delicious!

Such a lovely spot to stop and have delicious lunch of fresh seafood, right by the ocean, a stones throw to the seal colony. The ladies were very friendly and the service was great...the food was delicious and fresh! Make sure you stop in and grab a bite to eat when you visit Kaikoura!

After coming back from the seal colony we called in at this caravan come BBQ. The opposite of everything that you would normally expect from a restaurant surroundings - plastic plates, plastic tables and chairs literally on the side of the road (one side - the beach on the other) and you scrape your own plates and pile them in a plastic crate BUT - the taste of the really fresh well cooked seafood on a hot fine and sunny day was a great experience. No place to be hung up on protocol or restaurant service but a good place to enjoy properly fresh seafood in a very different and very relaxed setting.

Had a snack on my way to the sea colony. A wonderful place to have some terrific seafood! The scallops were fresh and top quality with friendly service. The beautiful setting, al fresco tables and retro kiosk added to the adventure of the day.

This is a roadside trailer on the the way to the seal colony in Kaikoura. We picked out our crayfish which looks like a lobster. We also ordered the scallops, mussels and a Paua fritter sandwich they were accompanied by rice, toasted bread and salad.. Everything was cooked right there on the grill. So fresh and perfectly cooked . We sat at a picnic table surrounded by the beauty of the Kaikoura coast. It was a stunning setting and brilliant food!
