Having tried Crayfish elsewhere we were happier to save a few quid and get the mixed seafood platter. We got two huge sharing plates with whitebait patties, crayfish patties, mussles, scallops etc.

Apart from the whitebait which was just ok, it was all delicious, the mussles in particular were amazing. The weather was just good enough to be able to sit outside and enjoy our food.

I thought it was pretty good value considering how much we got, the same money would have bought us a small crayfish and we would have been eating again a short time later. Do try the crayfish though if you have yet to do so.

Whilst it is one of things to do when you are in Kaikoura, eat fresh crayfish, there are definitely better options than this one. The location is OK, the crayfish was just OK, but the service was terrible. The attitude was something I've never experienced on our whole trip around the South Island. Even to the point that expect you to clean your own plate into the bin and then pack it away for cleaning??? All included in the plus $50 crayfish. Next time I'll be trying the caravans North of Kaikoura for my crayfish.

Amazing crayfish lunch. Being used to Breton seafood, I was ready to be disappointed, but this was VERY nearly as good.

We were hiking the Kaikoura peninsula and this is the place for lunch. Good, fresh fish, some bread and salade. You couldn't cater for more. Informal, just grab a chair and talk to other tourists. Clearing the tables yourself, no problem. This is not as good as The Green Dolphin, off course, but quality / price is higher.

One would not think this kiosk would have such great food, but it does. We enjoyed soup, fish, and delicious bread that we took back and enjoyed in our bed and breakfast.
