Whilst it is one of things to do when you are in Kaikoura, eat fresh crayfish, there are definitely better options than this one. The location is OK, the crayfish was just OK, but the service was terrible. The attitude was something I've never experienced on our whole trip around the South Island. Even to the point that expect you to clean your own plate into the bin and then pack it away for cleaning??? All included in the plus $50 crayfish. Next time I'll be trying the caravans North of Kaikoura for my crayfish.

Thank Carl P

Amazing crayfish lunch. Being used to Breton seafood, I was ready to be disappointed, but this was VERY nearly as good.

We were hiking the Kaikoura peninsula and this is the place for lunch. Good, fresh fish, some bread and salade. You couldn't cater for more. Informal, just grab a chair and talk to other tourists. Clearing the tables yourself, no problem. This is not as good as The Green Dolphin, off course, but quality / price is higher.

One would not think this kiosk would have such great food, but it does. We enjoyed soup, fish, and delicious bread that we took back and enjoyed in our bed and breakfast.

We came twice to this place in our two days in Kaikoura. One time for dinner and the next day for lunch. They close at 7pm and we were almost the last customer of the day. When I said "close", it meant the owner would drag the "whole restaurant", tucked it behind a pickup and disappeared. If you come after 7:15pm, you will not see any sign of the restaurant.

The next day we came again for lunch and we got crayfish (whole at $52). Very good, fresh food. Rice and bread and salad is included. Don't expect ambience of a restaurant, but the food is favourite.
