“Perfect little room”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

My husband and I chanced upon Kaikoura Boutique Hotel on a last minute trip to the area. We were drawn to the hotel, it's location and it's newly refurbished looks. Although small, our room was perfectly formed and we loved the attention to detail. Peter, the owner, was really friendly and helpful. We loved the suggestion to make a stop to see the baby seals - they made our day!

Overall our stay was really comfortable and for the same rate as the neighbouring motels. We would recommend Kaikoura Boutique hotel to anyone looking for something a little more unique yet still reasonable.

We highly recommend the Kaikoura Boutique Hotel. We stated 2 nights over our honeymoon and very much enjoyed our stay! The rooms were recently updated with very comfy beds. The location is close to town and the Dolphin Encounter (also highly recommended.). The lobby also has a lovely seating area where we enjoyed a glass of wine taking in the beautiful view. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!

We stayed in this Hotel as part of our Grand tour of New Zealand. A great little find. We enjoyed exploring the area visiting the Seal Colony(free) and Whale Watching recommended and booked by the Hotel what a fantastic experience.
The room was exactly as described. Very stylish, modern and comfortable with a spacious bathroom.
We were made very welcome by the friendly owner Peter.
We also enjoyed a fastastic meal in the restaurant.Food and service were excellent.
When we go back to NZ we will definitely visit again.

we visited this hotel while we were in Kaikoura, for the whalewatch.
when entering the door, immediately welcomed by Bobyn & her big smile.
the location n views around are both great, accompanied by a nice restaurent, the crayfish was very impressive.
btw,Bobyn is very beautiful, husband is also very handsome, lol.
if the space of the room is larger, that would be much better.
highly recommended,though!

Kaikoura Boutique hotel is everything a boutique hotel should be, stylish, elegant and luxurious. Gorgeous location on the beach front close to the main area of Kaikoura. Stayed in stylish little unit with an amazingly comfy bed with everything you could need. Excellent hosts really friendly environment. I will definitely be back and would highly recommend. Hotel does not offer catering but has a delicious intimate restaurant for evening dinner which is worth a visit.

I stayed in this hotel as it was booked as part of a package for traveling between Wellington and Christchurch with a stopover in Kaikoura for the whale watch excursion.

We were transferred between the hotel and train station during both arrival and departure and this is a nice gesture since the walk can be around half an hour.

Kaikoura is a small town by the pacific coast and the hotel is situated by the coast with a great view of the sea. It is a small family run hotel and the room is quite stylish and nice. We have a nice double bed and the room has all the necessary toilet amenities and also the coffee/tea making facilities.

There is a restaurant within the hotel and as a guest, a discount is offered. Breakfast is included for the stay and it was a good spread to select from.

Overall, this is a pleasant hotel to stay in, especially for those who enjoy nice view and great atmosphere.

We stayed at the hotel on the 30th October, whereupon we were greeted by the very friendly Robyn. The hotel is lovely, as was the room. Very stylish and modern, with a very comfortable bed! The room isn't very big, compared to some other hotel rooms, but it did have a large bathroom. However, it was plenty big enough for the two of us and I'd rather stay in a slightly smaller room that's nicely decorated and immaculate, than a larger, outdated/tired/unclean hotel room. We didn't try out the restaurant, but it was also nicely decorated.
The room looked out onto a well presented courtyard area and the hotel itself is located on the waterfront. It's in a great location, only a 10 minute walk to the main restaurant/bar area and a 5 minute walk to the Pennisula route walk.
Robyn also acted as a NZ tourist guide! She recommended and advised us on what areas to visit based on personal experience (along with travel times).
All in all, Kaikoura is a wonderful place to visit and I would recommend staying at the hotel, especially with the excellent customer service Robyn and her team provides.
