We stayed here recently on our way north.

Nice tidy cabin with comfortable beds. Not to stuffy.

The kitchen was large and clean.
Everything you need whn on the road.

Amazing views on a clear day, juicy green grass, free swimming pool / spa, clean kitchen and bathrooms. Kitchen isn't equipped and the lounge area is kind of just a dining area with a little TV in the corner, but otherwise one of the nicest camp sites we have been to!

Just as its name, you get a first class view of snow capped mountain. This Holiday Park provided 2 bedrooms apartments, studios or motor-homes park. Its best quality is that all the units are super clean. You can hardly see any marks on the wall, of any wall. This holiday park also has laundry facilities and it is opened 24/7.

The only downside is that, the WiFi isn't free. Somehow third world countries are more generous when it comes to offering internet facilities.

My family of four stayed here over the kids holidays for four nights and while Kaikoura, and although a little more expensive than some camp sights in the south island, this place was worth it. We were looked after and managed to get a pitch with no one beside us which was down to the professionalism of the man who booked us in and as a result we stayed for four nights, the pool and trampoline kept the kids happy it was easy to walk everywhere and impeccably clean! My only complaint was not enough soap in the laundry for a decent wash!

We stayed in Kaikoura overnight as we had an early start whale watching the following day. We stayed ina cabin which was nice and comfortable and reasonably good value for money. The facilities included kitchen, bathrooms, laundry and pool. They hire out cooking equipment which is helpful and are only a few minutes drive from the supermarket. Staff were friendly and helpful

My friend and I really enjoyed our 1 night at Alpine Pacific. It was very quiet and had a great little camp kitchen and good laundry facilities. This was a classic holiday park with cabins, campsites and caravans but it was very nice. The pool and 2 spas were great and the room was a good size for 2 adults (wouldn't want many more in there even thought it sleeps 4 - would be ok for young family). A little bit out of town but ok if you have a car (which most people probably do in Kaikoura).

Kaikoura is a wonderful place for wildlife and amazing scenery. Most people visit for the whale watching as part of their South Island tour. Consequently a lot of the hospitality businesses in the area do not go that extra mile for the repeat and word of mouth business.

We stayed in the motel units. They were acceptable and clean but the decor was drab and functional. The twin and double rooms were on the ground floor and the family rooms were located above. This meant that for several hours every evening we had a chorus of tap dancing elephants when the kids were running around. Plus the whole building shook when they were running up and down the steps. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the kids because that's what kids do and it perfectly acceptable behavior. The layout would be more suited the opposite way round with the family rooms on the ground floor and the double and twin rooms upstairs. The room had no outside seating space and was on the main thoroughfare to most of the parks amenities. Within the park there are some cheaper single story units with an outside picnic table that would have been more suitable for us.

For a family, this would be a fantastic place to stay with lots to do for the kids where they can safely run free so I would recommend, but I would not for couples.

We chose this place because of the spa pools but again they were monopolised by the many children so we really didn't get much of a chance to use them.

I would highly recommend the whale watching trip and the kayaking with the fur seals. We tried several restaurants, the only ones worth a mention were the Hislop Cafe where the food and service was amazing. The Beach House Cafe did an excellent breakfast. We tried several places on the main high street in Kaikoura, but the service and microwaved food was poor. The Beach Road end of town places worked much harder and offered an excellent customer service experience.

We also found another little treasure during our stay. If you walk or cycle just past the old pier, there is a seafood barbeque run by two friendly local women that does the best priced crayfish in town set amongst breath taking scenery.
