Beachfront Hotel Hokitika

Our view over the Tasman Sea was spectacular. We watched the sun and the sea, and walked for hours along the excellent beach. The room was comfortable and breakfast was generous. In addition, the hotel is convenient to Hokitika's shopping and restaurants.

I really like it here, infact I went for a work trip then booked to come back for a holiday in two weeks time. The rugged sandy beach is excellent for walking on and admiring the sunset. if you are lucky you may find greenstone washed up from the nearby river! The Beachfront access is awesome. I loved my morning breakfast- yummy eggs benedict with salmon. so Nice!
Ask for a room with a bath on the 2nd or 3rd floors.

we paid extra for the seaview and were not disappointed. Room was good/clean etc as you would expect. we had dinner and breakfast. Dinner was excellent and probably better that we had been expecting. Breakfast was also better than usual,

Room Tip: pay the extra for the sea view if budget allows

We (Couple) stayed on a 'Treatme' deal - good value for money. Our Ocean view room was excellent - g8 view with lovely sunsets - quiet - very comfortable - everything you need. The Hotel is centrally located with supermarket, shops & restaurants just across the road. Staff friendly & helpful. Breakfast g8 - evening meal we felt was overpriced.
We would do again:-)

Room Tip: Make sure you have the Ocean view rooms - We stayed on the 2nd floor - possibly you wouldn't get...

We had an ocean view room booked here and when we saw that some of these rooms had spas we rang to see if we could have a room with one of these. We were told that we could, but when we arrived and went into our room there was no spa. Reception told us that there were no more spa rooms available. After arguing with her that we had been told we had one she said very rudely that the room had only been booked for one person so we shouldn't be complaining. Firstly, the room rate on their website is a flat rate for up to two people so I have no idea what she was talking about, and secondly, the phone conversation when asking for a spa room was full of "we would like to change to a spa room" and "we will be arriving around 5pm" etc. and at no point did they seem concerned that it was a "we" rather than an "I".
Also, the website says that all oceanview rooms have a private balcony with outdoor furniture. Turns out that doesn't mean the first floor. Our door opened out to the road, with no outdoor furniture. Obviously this is so it doesn't get stolen as the road goes straight past (literally 4 metres from the door).
We thought we'd eat at the restaurant and when we went in there there were plenty of tables but we were told that we'd need to take a seat at the bar and wait - this seemed a bit strange when there were plenty of tables, none with reserve signs on them. Possibly a way of making you buy a drink at the bar. We decided to eat somewhere else.

Room Tip: Don't get a first floor room. And try to contact them via email regarding a spa room if you want...

The hotel has a new area with views to the beach and an old one, where we stayed. The rooms here are ok and clean but they're just old and they need some renovation. The hotel is very well located. The supermarket is just across the street and you'll also find some good restaurants close by

We stayed in the superb luxury beach front rooms that have fabulous views of Hokitika Beach and sunsets from the rooms. The hotel is in downtown Hokitika and the luxury beach front rooms overlook the Tasman Sea. We would highly recommend the luxury beach front rooms.

Room Tip: All luxury beach front rooms are great.
