We tried two days in a row to take the helicopter over Franz Josef and Fox Glacier however first day it was too cloudy and the next day, although clear, was too windy. So we travelled north to Hokitika a bit disappointed. After spending a few great days there, we found a wonderful fellow called Ben (Wilderness Wings) who could take us up in his plane over the Southern Alps, including Mt Cook and Mt Tasman, Fox, Franz Josef and Tasman Glaciers. Ben being a local lad was passionate about the flight and the alps and was able to tell us so much about where we were and what we were seeing. It was the best!! We are still raving about it. And I took a few hundred photos and John recorded on his camcorder. It was so spectacular up there with those beautiful snow capped mountains. At one stage we could see the Tasman Sea on the left and the Pacific Ocean on the right at the same time. Wow. Not to be missed!!!
