Travelled all day to Hokitika due to the Haast Past being closed and didn't have a booking. When we turned up we were greeted with that old fashioned service you don't get these days. As a family of 4 we were provided with the 2 bedroom apartment which was very clean, roomy and great value for money. All all the usual mod cons, full kitchen and free wifi. Great night sleep with comfortable beds. Really felt welcomed at this place and could not fault anything.

This review is for a stay in the motel in early May 2013.

Arrived here on a cool pre-winter night for one night's stay. Booked a standard studio with the motel. The room was simply furnished yet fully functional. Within the standard studio, we had a double bed and two singles in a separate room (if my memory serves me right). Essentially, the room had lots of space for moving around in. Bed came with electric blankets which were useful for keeping us warm when the temperatures dipped at night. Bathroom was clean and stocked with necessities. And there was a kitchenette for those who would like to make a warm cuppa as you relax by the front porch and browse through your photographs taken on your trip. As the rooms are located off the main road, you get a nice peaceful rest which is great when you need to be up and get back on the road the next morning since we were doing a road trip.

The motel is well situated near the town centre and you can get to supermarkets easily or just simply wander about the variety of shops looking at stuff or getting a bite. There is also a small glow worm dell near the motel which is a fairly interesting pit-stop at night. For those who cannot see too well in the dark, it is recommended that you carry a small torch when you visit the dell but do note not to shine the torch at the glow worms so as not to disturb them. Overall, the motel is a great bargain at the rates offered due to its comfort and location.

If you want value for money come here... Stayed in a two bedroom unit which was spacious and very clean - with full kitchen and lounge. Walking distance into centre of town. Real value for money. Serviced daily - friendly staff.

Came to stay one night on our drive from Fox Glacier back to Christchurch. Although nothing special, it is all you can ask from a motel.

Service - Friendly welcome and happy to answer any questions.
Value - Room was spacious and the bathroom was huge. The price was reasonable so it is okay for the price.
Sleep - Comfortable bed and warm enough for without heating.
Cleanliness - Tidy and very clean. It was obviously very well looked after.
Location - Close to town so no complains here.
Rooms - Reasonable size and very comfortable for 2 people.

Overall - A standard motel but the cleanliness and service brings it up a notch. Recommended place to stay in Hokitika.

Stayed one night, with another couple from England, travelling around NZ. This motel had everything you could ask for, large spacious clean units and at such a reasonable cost. Would definitly stay again if in the area. Compared to prices we paid at other motels on our trip this motel was real value for money plus the owner was very helpful. Nice quiet setting too.

stayed one night on our way home from Glenorchy to Nelson. They are older units but lovely & clean. We had heaps of room in our studio, with a big bathroom area, and a separate toilet. The motel also had excellent kitchen facilities with a very clean oven. The motel is very close to town, about a ten minute walk to all the shops & cafes.

Room Tip: even though motel is on the main road, it goes quiet at night

We stayed just one night here, but wish it were longer! Spacious, very clean and airy, our room had everything we needed including twin hotplates, fridge, microwave, coffee plunger with coffee and fresh milk, tea and chocolate, and all cookware and dishware. The bed was very comfortable, and the spa bath was so relaxing. There was a table and chairs, and free wi-fi was a bonus! If you don't want to cook, the best fish and chips we had in our entire NZ trip was at Porky's, on the main crossroad of town. Make sure to see the driftwood sculpture on the beach and the glowworm dell. Hokitika Gorge is a turquoise wonder, just a short drive away, but watch out for sandflies! The Lake Kaniere area was also pretty, Dorothy Falls is gorgeous.

Room Tip: 17 was very nice, back of the property and quiet.
