“Great Recommendation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2009

A friend said we should stay at Breakers whilst driving up the West Coast of the South Is.
Jan & Stephen made us very welcome and the view from our room was spectacular. It was very pleasant sitting on our deck and even better to be able to walk down the short walkway to the beach. We loved the remoteness of the area. We enjoyed breakfast and meeting the other guests. Jan supplied us with relevant information on what to see and do. We stayed two nights and hope to go back to stay longer next time.

Some venues have great scenery but variable service. Others are impeccably hospitable but poorly located. Breakers is one of those rare places with an outstanding setting and great host. Even received knowledgeable advice on things to see while travelling to the B&B, as well as when travelling on afterwards. If I return to NZ with my family, as I hope to, Breakers will definitely be on our itinerary.

Sadly we were only booked to stay one night at this fantastic B and B. From the moment we arrived Jan made us feel incredibly welcome and advised us on a helicopter trip and phoned ahead to alter our forthcoming accommodation.
Breakfast was lovely and friendly and the setting of this B and B is out of this world!
If we are lucky/wealthy enough to return to New Zealand we shall definately be paying Breakers a 2nd visit - but for longer.

We had a long sightseeing drive from Nelson via the Buller Gorge,Punakaiki etc and, after a walk on the beach(Breakers has its own access), crashed out with one of Jan's platters watching the sunset and listening to the sea rolling in. It is comfortable, roomy and there are great views. Breakfast was good. Jan is an excellent host and her tips on where to stop bring out the best of the beautiful West Coast.

Our night at Breakers was one we have spoken of often since our return home. We have never stayed at a B & B before and the quality and service provided by Jan at Breakers was exceptional. If you have the option to dine with a hosted meal by Jan have no hesitation in booking one - it is up there with the finest cuisine.
The views of the ocean from our room was stunning, and a walk along the beach was just what the doctor ordered. It even resulted in finding a peice of greenstone washed up by the recent storm.
If we were even in the facinity again we would definately stay with Jan at Breakers again and have no hesitation in recommending Breakers to others looking for quality B & B accomodation.
Thanks Jan - outstanding.

Breakers is a lovely B&B situated in a beautiful and quiet spot right next to the beach. We stayed in the Breakwater suite and had a fantastic time - we only had one night there but would have happily stayed longer. Jan is a wonderful host and has lots of great suggestions of places to visit en route to your next destination.

Stayed at the Breakers in March. We did not receive a very friendly welcome and breakfast was very poor. The room was spacious and comfortable and had a lovely view of the ocean. This was one of the most expensive B&Bs we stayed in during our month touring New Zealand and felt it was overpriced for what you got. Jan who runs the B&B was not there that day so maybe it is different when she is around.

It is such a shame these guests didn't enjoy their overall experience at Breakers. Going through our guest book and our Qualmark feedback cards, our guests are constantly commenting on the wonderful experience they have at Breakers, value for money, outstanding beachfront location and our great breakfasts. On reading the reviews they posted to other accommodations during their holiday, I don't know that anyone could have accommodated these guests to their overall satisfaction.
