A fascinating walk through local mining history. The walk was well marked and the signage was informative. Some steep sections with steps, but fine for the moderately fit. Don't forget to take a torch to explore the mine tunnel, and do what we didn't do - turn it off once you're into the mine - and you should be able to see glow worms as well.

The nearest road the GPS can find is Maori creek road. From there, just drive straight and you will hit the gravel road. It was very cooling throughout the walk. The place is like a nature reserve. We went into the tunnel. Be careful as there might be puddles of water and uneven ground. Torchlight is a MUST!!!! It's pitch black!!!! We saw a few glow worms inside the tunnel. A round trip walk would take 45 min (longer if you want to take pic ). There is a suspension bridge at the end but note that it only holds 5 pax (4 if u are a fatty). All in all, it was a interesting way to spend the afternoon. Bf and I enjoy such off the beaten road tracks. Plus it's free too! Would recommend you to go if you have time!

This really is in the middle of nowhere, a bit of a drive on an unmade road with very few signs. The moment you start the trek you feel you are entering a different world walking amongst the plants along the little stream. Lots of steps on the route but laid out really well. A couple of tunnels to go in (need torches!). We saw a few glow worms. Other highlights were crossing the wobbly swing bridge, and the very narrow gorges to walk through. Opens your eyes to the conditions the gold miners endured. Would be good for children.

This is a hidden treasure, a challenge to find but well worth it, we took torches to explore the tunnels and were rewarded with wet as and glow worms. Good walk with quite a few steps up and down but well laid out!

A bit off the beaten track but this just adds to the character of the walk. Great walk for children as there is heaps of interesting things to see an explore. We always forget torches but the tunnels are fun to go in even without a torch. One of the best historical gold mining walks of the West Coast.
