We were lucky to have a rental car so could drive out to Dobson where the Brunner Mine Site is. What a great historical place to visit and so well laid out and maintained. It is a easy walk around the site with lots of great information.

This is a beautiful spot on the side of the river with a very sobering story behind it.
Hard not to be moved by the stories and yet wowed by the surroundings.

Very well established tourist site. Recommend visiting if passing well worth the stop. Good insight of the life of a pioneering miner at Brunner.

I loved this. You could see the original mine entrances. There was detailed information and images of the brunner mine history and the explosions that killed 65 miners. Tributes to the Pike river miners killed in 2011. You get a sense of what it was like back in the 1890's when you visit. Great free educational experience.

Very good information panels and use of photos and audio to tell and large story. Its not all about the disaster but the activities and the people. I found it very interesting and moving. A very good example of historic site intrepration. Maybe some info panels in other languages would be useful.
Very little signage working up to the site, we stopped because of the interesting bridge. Take lots of photos as we were unable to find any postcards
