“Good location and budget”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

It enjoys a good location and with good budget. Very clean room and toilet. The bathroom is a bit cold. Recommend the Giraffe Double room, good view of the town, very big. Well equipped kitchen and good function rooms.

There's not much reason to stop in Greymouth too long, but Noah's Ark is such a great little hostel it seems a shame to only stay one night. It is well located, friendly, quiet and clean. Lovely resident cat.

Noah's Ark is one of the best backpackers I've ever stayed at. It was spacious, clean and had gorgeous animal themed rooms. We stayed in the elephant room!! Most importantly our bed was super comfortable and the staff were friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

Even though Noah's Ark is one of the larger hostel i've been stay during my trip but I didn't feel that it's a typical backpackers. It's more to a homely style and yes I like their design of animal theme rooms.
We stayed 1 night in the cow room which is a twin but actually can stay up to 3. The spacious room is superb comfortable with extra blanket, basin, heater & extension wire.
The 2 shared toilets and spacious showers are absolutely clean and separated. I did have a very nice & warm shower.
Homely style kitchen, comfortable dining room. For our dinner we didn't use the kitchen as Mc'd is very near.
Free breakfast with a variety of jams. Free 50mb wifi. Street parking.
Definately value for money and will stay here again for few more nights!

Stayed here for a night - wish i could have stayed longer! We stayed in the :cow room' and it was absolutely amazing, everything was cow decorated, the sheets, the curtains, paintings on the wall, just everything! The couple that were looking after the place while the owner was away were so friendly- quite happy to spend some time chatting about the place. Loved that its an old building with some history, i just loved it. While Bez the dog and Jess the cat were wandering around they knew their place, not once did i see either of them in the kitchen, although Bez did take to sitting by the door staring at the 'No bez' sign - poor thing. The place was just amazing, i cant recommend this enough

Stayed for one night in May. Quite a nice hostel. Staff were friendly and loving area was nice.

Stayed in the Kiwi room. Was ok, not great - was right by the front door and you could hear everyone come and go! It was quite cold as well!

The location was great! Very close to the sights and supermarket!

Never stayed in a hostel like this before. The owners were nice and in character with the rest of the house, loved the old dog Bez who would get so excited when they turned the fireplace on. The rooms were all animal themed...a little "twilight zone-ish" but not bad. The rooms did have a funny, kind of old smell but again...nothing that wouldn't stop me from coming back. The bathrooms were clean, warm, and the showers were spacious. Free breakfast, nice big lounge room with piano to play if you'd like. Movies to rent. Only 2 computers for use tucked away in a little hallway.
