I expected a higher standard of accommodation than what was on offer. We were not in the tower where it seems some of the other reviewers were, but in a separate motel style building. Perhaps we should have complained but since it was only for 1 night we decided to put up with this rather dingy, dark small room that we were in. There seemed to be a number of single males in the other rooms who were smoking in the corridor which of course wafted through into the room. I mentioned this to the receptionist who immediately came out to investigate and opened the doors to the lobby area to help ventilate the smell which was appreciated. This hotel is in dire need of refurbishment and I must admit I didn't feel very clean staying in the room. However, the restaurant and bar areas were completely different. Light and comfortable with attentive and helpful staff. The food was a very pleasant surprise and more than made up for the awful room.

Room Tip: Stay in the tower, you may get better and larger rooms and may even get a view. If rooms are only av...

Thank you for your review, we are aware that we are not the most modern hotel, we do however try to make up for this by offering a range of accommodation that is clean & comfortable along with friendly and honest staff.

Rang and booked a superior queen room in the tower with a $50 food and beverage tab.

Had a drink during happy hour and then had a meal which was nice enough.Staff were attentive without being over bearing. Staff at reception and on the bar were helpful.
Hotel needs some upgrading but look past that and it is great value if you take a special offer. Bed was more than comfortable and bathroom area good. We enjoyed and will be back. We did not notice any noise from any of the other rooms and slept through the night. This Hotel needs an upgrade but we felt the value was good and having the bar and restuarant with the $50 tab made it an excellent deal.

Room Tip: Book a special and get a room in tower is the tallest building in Greymouth and you can see everythi...

We arrived in greymouth from Christchurch on a lovely sunny afternoon, & walked the short distance to the hotel we were warmly welcomed by the staff & offered a downstairs room instead of upstairs however the room proved to be damp, musty & very shabby I mentioned this to the receptionist & asked for our original room - we were then offered an upgrade at no extra cost this was the standard of room that I had expected & while "tired' with small maintaince letting them down was adequate. We enjoyed the "happy hour' & later the meal - in all aspects of our stay we found the friendly helpfulness of all staff was the highlight - not the hotel which I feel definately needs of general maintaince to bring it back in line with other hotels in this chain.

well they are priced high and the very basic rooms will make you feel claustrophobic..plus when they are full they will make you park some distance from their hotel..
on the plus side we were upgraded to a nice room at some extra cost.the rooms even though a bit old were huge.and ya as a nice gesture they provided us with some candles free of cost when we asked them for it..

Room Tip: please don't chose the basic oom because it will seem like a piegonhole

Thank you for your review, we do have a range of rooms that will suit most budgets. We have a lock up carpark 70 metres from the main entrance to the hotel, this is a secure area that is locked at night and security patrolled.

We stayed in a Superior Plus King room with a "balcony". I don't see what's so "superior" about it, for the price I've stayed in larger, nicer and more modern rooms. There was hair in the sink, cracks in the ceiling, the doors don't fit properly so let light in and, as we discovered in the small hours, it has VERY thin walls. Thankfully the couple next door were only talking! Still woke us up, we could hear every word.

The "Balcony" is not nearly as romantic or relaxing as it sounds. It's about the size of an average cardboard box, only less useful. It's about 3 feet wide by 2 deep. They advertise the room with that as a 'feature'!

When you browse to their page for the Superior Plus page, the picture has 2 beds so naturally I thought we'd have 2 beds. Not the case, pointed this out to the lady at reception who proceeded to tell me I was wrong.
See for yourself http://www.millenniumhotels.co.nz/kingsgategreymouth/hotel-rooms/superior-plus.html

The picture there is very flattering, the photographer is very good at getting juice from a lemon.

Hotel is priced as luxury but run on a budget, which seems to be the case with every Millenium Group hotel I've seen. Shame.

The only good thing about the room was the bed itself. It was very comfy and large, wider than a standard king,

Overall, very disappointing room but we made the best of it in Greymouth, which has some real gems hidden in it if you look around.

Room Tip: If you want a good room, stay somewhere else.

I was with my familly for 1 night in this hotel. Reception look nice, but rooms are very OLD and not well cleaned. Internet is free for 20 minutes at the reception of the hotel.

Only advantage is that you are in city center.

But i will only say good if you find low rate for your night.

Greymouth was a one night pitstop after our train ride from Christchurch. You expect so much more when you book at a chain like Kingsgate. The rooms were musty not sure when they opened the windows last. Scared to touch anything just in case it fell apart!

The manager, was really rude and very curt. Felt like we were invading her private space.Though there was a young girl who was being trained, definitely had more manners than her manager!

Possibly the worst place we stayed at during our time in NZ. Avoid this place at all costs!
