We had dinner here and was pleasantly surprised to see dairy free options on the menu which is very unusual to see but pleased my dairy allergy wife greatly. They had a large party at the time but we were fitted in and served quiet quickly. The menu is limited but the food was fresh and generous portions. There seem to be limited dining options in greymouth but this is worth a visit.

Such is the continuing value and quality of Ali's that I visited at least three times during my annual trip to the West Coast.

As ever this is a bustling cafe (no fine dining pretentions here) offering a limited menu of freshly cooked food in excellent portions. Meals I had included an excellent bacon and mushroom burger with salad and fries. oil infused pasta (that's how it's described on the menu and is exactly what to expect), fish and chips, and a first class steak. (The fries by the way are to die for!)

Service is attentive - often from the proprietor, newspapers are provided as befits a good cafe and the range of drinks extensive.

Ay the busiest times the single chef will be flat out so a short mait may be required but it's worth waiting for.

Hope I'll be back next year!

Admittedly there is precious little choice in Greymouth ... so we ended up having breakfast and dinner at Ali's. Having said that, both meals were tasty and great value for money. The vibe is relaxed (well, it is New Zealand after all).

We'd certainly not hesitate to go there again.

Friendly staff and generous portions, Very noisy with sound from kids playing and the coffee machine bouncing off the hard walls. Pasta was very oily, but tasty and satisfying.

Got seated at a dodgy rocky table, and found the menu to be rather small, Had a great waitress who was very friendly and happy to chat about local attractions up and down the coast.
Food as fresh and great tasting, but a bit pricey. Would go back but now know what to expect
