The great location of this venue was, for us, more than undone, by the charmless service - not a word of thanks and drinks etc being slammed down in front of us.

Really pricey too for what is pub grub. Return visits to Whangarei will bypass this establishment...

My partner and I went with another couple, just walked in as it looked only half full if that. at $28 a pizza we thought was a bit steep but thought maybe the quality must be worth it. How WRONG we were. Firstly we waited 30 mins for the first pizza we assumed the 2nd was on the way. 15 mins later we had to remind the waitress about the 2nd pizza as they had forgotten we ordered 2. We accepted the refund of half a pizza but it was too little too late. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND DONT GO HERE!!!!

The staff were quite friendly when my wife and I had a cider and a glass of fairly ordinary wine. I gulped when the bill was NZ$18.

We met friends for dinner here on Valentine’s Day. Apparently, the crowd (did not look like that much of a crowd, but kitchen was clearly overwhelmed) destroyed the kitchen’s ability to get out the food. We had made reservations in advance, and after sitting down, the waitress told us that the food would take 30 minutes to come out, because the kitchen was behind. That turned out to be a full hour, by which time our party was famished. Food ranged from decent to awful. NZ mussels were undercooked and had to be sent back (we canceled the order); Caesar salad was not very appetizing, with bacon that looked like it had sat around for several days; prime rib (the house specialty) looked OK, and our guest who had it said it was good; scallops and prawns kebab was barely edible – scallops were mushy and shrimp seemed barely cooked. The waitress recognized the disaster that had happened, and gave us free garlic bread, took the mussels off the bill, and discounted the overall bill by 20% because of the delay. Maybe it was just a bad day….
