Stayed here in late June 2014 as a travelling couple from Australia.

The room is cosy and nice. We overlooked the big river in Whangarei, and could see the mountain. For what we payed, we got a brilliant room. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, a very lovely place. The staff are kind and did not mind us booking out half an hour late as we had overslept. I would like to point out this place is central to everything in Whangarei including the waterfront.

I will stay here again when I next visit Whangarei, and have recommended this place to all my friends and family in Australia.

Hotel front of house staff are terribly rude! What ever happened to hospitality? You will not find it here!!! We are traveling with an internationally renowned band from the USA and this horrible experience is one of the last things they will experience in New Zealand. You should be totally ashamed of yourselves and also learn how to cook! Go somewhere else people this place is not worth the trouble

OK, so it was the coldest day of the year and Northlanders are quite unused to temperatures near freezing, but a couple of extra blankets would have been handy.

I can see that the place would be much more pleasant in a warmer season. The room layout was fine and there was plenty of space to work in.

The bed was comfortable, other than being a bit nippy. The bathroom window opened onto an exterior wooden louver, which could have done with a good dusting to get the cobwebs off.

The location is a few hundred metres from the waterfront and would be a lovely walk in the summer.

This was a great hotel. The rooms were quite big and everything you needed was there. It is close to very good cafes and restaurants. There is also a good restaurant on the premises where breakfast and evening meals are served. Altogether a very good experience.

Room Tip: Great place to stay, easy to get to and close to city centre

I stayed here lastnight and it was terrible! The shower and toilet was not up to clean standards and the reception staff were very unhelpful!!! NOT impressed at all. The directions I was given lead me to the wrong destination and I simply asked for a 11am check out as stated on my booking but was denied! I will not be staying here in the future and will not recommend this hotel. Very bad service I expected better

Room Tip: do not recommend

We stayed for here for two nights, walking distance down town, clean and comfortable room, but quite small. The hotel has a big parking area and a nice garden for relaxing. Quite cheap – good value for money. We used this hotel as "base camp" for local sightseeing

Keep coming back and even though it is years between each visit I always get a good nights sleep.

Have stayed here on and off for many years, the rooms are clean and tidy, most importantly to me the beds are comfortable and staff friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ground floor
