It's a 450m climb to the top but when you get there the views are to die for. Don't forget your camera. I've been up three times now and its awesome every time. Cool native bush as well.

This is a worthwhile climb- mostly steps though and you need to be reasonably fit. There is a good track and well built steps and the path is through some excellent examples of native bush including Kauri. The view from the top is great- 360 degrees. At the base there are toilets and a nice picnic area.

a challenging walk up to the viewpoint of Mount Manaia, an important Maori heritage site. If you hate steps don't do this walk, there are many!!! But worth it for great views.

Save this for a fine day as it would be very challenging on a less than perfect day and a waste of effort since the views are amazing. These are part of the bones of Northland's ancient volcanic past but the bush (rain forest) has softened some of the contours.

A good level of fitness is required and care must be taken but this is well worth the effort. Northland has some great scenery and it really does suggest a lush and tropical island. When is it sunny and warm, it is truly amazing - a scenic gem!

Easy parking, steep climb. Would prefer it not to have steps all the way up I like a graded track better. Brilliant views from the top and on the way up.
