We visited this park , as it is one of the places that has a Native Bird recovery centre and a Kiwi House . Also on this day , they were holding a " Medieval Madness " day ,with Jousting and Music .
Some of the park was not open , but there was still plenty to enjoy . The large and small railway engines were giving rides , the Museum was open , the school , the Hardie house , Smithy and the Clarke Homestead were also open and quite interesting .
However , best of all , we got to see a kiwi in the Kiwi House .Sometimes the Kiwis are sleeping ,but we were told that one was active and we may be lucky to see him .
All in all , a nice day out , nothing fantastic , but a pleasant way to pass a few hours .
