It's a little overrated the sculpture.

But I visited it and only just came across it. You have to drive a bit further up or walk to the end of the town basin walkways to find it.

Once there, it is a very nice piece of art and worth some happy snaps.

There is an easy walk along a lovely paved, waterfront park with fantastic sculptures. Then you get to the Wave & Waka. Kids love to climb into the Waka to play - good photo opportunities!
Afterward walk back to the town basin for a play in the park, coffee, ice-cream, or good food.

This sculpture epitomises both the flow of the waves and the shape of the Waca. It is well worth the walk along the waterside of the Town Basin. We only came across it by accident as we were just taking a walk and didn't know it was there. But I'm glad I saw it.

Its not so much the waka sculpture that's great but its all the surroundings and the other amazing sculptures on the flat walk to the waka. There is heaps of parking at the Town Basin then you can take a leisurely walk along. Was ideal for taking my elderly dad.

The tide was out when we visited the Town Basin, and the mangrove swamp is not very interesting at low tide. We stumbled across this sculpture during our walk along the estuary. It certainly brightened up the park at low tide, and our photographs.
