Picturesque but underwhelming. The park and walks are nice and well maintained but at the time of year we went (February) the falls had very little flow so looked quite small. Perhaps in winter with more rainfall they may look more spectacular.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Very beautiful little circular walk which is well signposted and close to the parking. You can walk to the campsite or even into town from here (although you’d have to walk back up the hill). Pretty little spot- recommended

Excellent site: it can be reached by walking along Hatea River forest trail, or from car-park above the falls.(steps going down). Falls are 26 metres high - great photos from below. Water flow depends on rainfall, but substantial even in dry season.Well maintained footpaths and information signs. Enjoyable to sit for an hour or so.

I wish I had a walking track like this near me. The falls are very picturesque and the 3km walk to AH Reed Memorial Park is worth it. It was very surprising that this beautiful area is so close to the city.

Waterfalls at the north end of Whangarei, easy stop if headed to Tutukaka or points north. There are two walks that take you down to the base of the falls; both are easy, child friendly, and shaded. Don't expect railings to protect visitors from stupidity at the top of the falls - NZ embraces personal responsibility and asks you to stay off the top except on the walkways. Medium-small parking lot.
