A nice walk along the moorings of the marina looking at the various sea-going private yachts and watching the travelers provisioning their boats. Tourist shops, restuarants, and museums at hand.

After hours of driving highway one the need for lunch and stretching ones legs needed. The community is quaint, several good places to select lunch, shopping and a museum. Easily found off the highway with good directions to town center and parking. Shop and restaurant staff willing to give directions and make suggestions. Truly a nice stop.

After many years living in Sydney, Kaua'i and France, coming home to where one was born is always an interesting experience. It is all about discovery and re-discovery. We are loving the experience and have no nostalgia for the big city lifestyle at all!

The Town Basin is a great place for gallery and boutique shop browsing, walking, lunch and coffee as well as having Clapham's National Clock Museum which - the largest collection of clocks in the southern hemisphere and well worth a visit. It is the place where visiting yachts and other boats tie up and is very scenic generally with the lush sub-tropical vegetation cloaking Mt Parahaki and the banks of the Hatea River. However, it is a place to go only when the weather is fine and sunny.

As a city, Whangarei has it all and we have been surprised at the choices one has in everything. Gradually we are trying cafés and restaurants and in due course, will share experiences of these and other aspects of life in the Winterless North!

Great eateries, artisan craft and gift shops . Glass demonstrations at Burning Issues a must see. Walk along to the" Wave and Waka" via the sculpture trail. The children love it! Great playground on the way too! Something for everyone. Will be super when the bridge link opens :)
