Owner description: We are Northland's first three-day private unguided walk. Situated at Whangarei Heads our boutique walk encompasses private farmland, stunning ocean and harbour beaches, rural roads, recreational reserves and public walkways. Start each day from our immaculately presented lodge and walk through an amazing variety of landscapes. At the end of the day return for a delicious dinner prepared by us and cooked by you. This outstanding natural experience will leave you with lasting memories.

This three day walk was our 12th and definitely up with the best. Claire was an amazing accommodating host. She had thought of every little detail in the very comfortable lodge and with three bathrooms and the great outdoor shower a huge plus after a day of walking. It was great that we could customise our days walking to the individual requirements of the group. Claire very obligingly dropped us off at our various walking stations and picked us up when we were ready to return. What a small paradise that none of us had been to. Great beaches with fantastic swimming - and we had it to ourselves. Loved the ridge walk even if it was a bit more demanding than we thought but spectacular views great bush and to finish with a swim in the very clear sea water. We didn't see a kiwi but heard them every night. Woke every morning to see the sun rise over the farm and ocean beach. Definitely recommend this walk. Our only complaint is that the food was so good we have all come home after three full days of walking to lose weight!

“Highly recommended”

The 13th annual outing of our walking group found us at Bream Head. The weather wasn't especially kind on the day we (well, some of us) did the main ridge walk, but we all thoroughly enjoyed the various shorter routes we did on the other days and found wonderful views albeit from a bit lower down. The standard of the accommodation is great and the meals were just delicious - those of us who had to return to work were rather envious of those retired people who decided to stay of a couple of extra days! Thanks so much to Claire for all the running around she did to make our weekend even better. And to Maureen for the post-walk massages!

This is our backyard. We have been strolling around these walks for 25 years and still love every minute of it. A magic and magestic place.

“A really good experience”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

This is a very professionally run operation but still having very much the personal touch. The Lodge is most comfortable and the meals provided absolutely delicious. We particularly liked the outdoors bath after a day's hiking and listening to kiwis and moreporks calling at night, and were very impressed with the work being done in pest eradication in this area.

The tracks we walked are almost too well-maintained with lots of steps which can be rather hard if one has knee problems, but they are all very manageable. There are options as to how much walking is done which makes the stay very viable for those wanting less strenuous hiking. We particularly liked the views from Mt Manaia.

“Incredible Views”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

I have walked from Urquart's Bay to Smugglers (approx 45min) and from Peach Cove to Peach Cove car park (approx 1 1/2 hours) -absolutely beautiful! Great swimming at Smuggler's Bay. The walk from Peach Cove to the car park is up lots of steps which is hard work but worth every step when you see the view below.
