“Great views”

Great walks, bit steep at times though. Varied scenery. Tracks are being improved so may be much better. Watch out for local cattle - they can get a bit "Up close"!

“Loved the experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

We were thrilled with the Bream Head Coast Walk experience. We (two Americans) ended up in the lodge with 9 Kiwis from a hiking club and had an absolutely fabulous time. Claire (the owner) is very well organized, and she does all the arrangements...meeting with us each night to tell us about the day hike for the next day and giving us several options. She transported us back and forth from locations (and even arrived with popsicles after an especially hot day!)

The area is remote and beautiful. You really feel as if you get to know the countryside when you are away from the crowds. And the best part is you do not have to worry about meals. Claire prepares outstanding gourmet meals each night (you just need to heat it up) and has plenty of choices for breakfast and for making your own lunch during the hike. We did a lot of hiking (including the Milford Track and Tongariro, but we were so glad we chose this type of hike as we got a great north island experience!

“Bream Head home away from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

The Walk was on our "to do" list and have come away with nothing but great memories. The walk itself was described exactly as it was, for us having great weather made it even more stunning. Our Hosts were most obliging and after a hard day's walking it was a treat to come back to our evening meal prepared for us - like having our own master chef!! Accommodation was superb . Claire supplied transport for the day two walk and also on the return journey. Nothing was any trouble too her.

“steep and natural footpath through rich forest”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

Get up early on a hot day, watch the early morning mist lift to a dry beautiful day which you can peer at through the thick forest of ferns and huge mature tangled trees. I enjoyed the fact that the path was not a board walk although the one section is now being made into steps and board walk as we saw helicopters flying the wood work in! i enjoyed the slight fear of falling off the steep and the feeling of being far away from people as no one else joined me for the walk. the bottle nosed dolphins surfing in the bay were also a welcome addition to a fabulous walk.
