Eden House
Ranked #14 of 29 Whangarei B&B and Inns

Where do I start..Richard and Carole our hosts were just brilliant, made us feel so welcome. Eden House is like a hideaway with breathtaking views over the bush towards the Pacific. Approximately 20 minutes drive from the lights of Whangarei,if you can get down to Smugglers Beach and Ocean Beach they are just amazing. Superb breakfast with the hosts followed by a 'must do'....the bush walk at the end of the garden, but look out for the strategically placed creepy crawlies. We only stayed for one night but Richard and Carole said that they host murder mystery weekends which in that location sound amazing. Summing up if you want an amazing place to stay, with lovely hosts, and at a really good price,in an amazing location..Eden House is the place. If anyone is going out for the Rugby World Cup 2011,this would be an ideal base to stay, and if the rugby has finished you can always take a dip in the pool and take in the awesome views. Will definitely go back there again..thankyou Richard and Carole :)

Faultless! A stunning room, beautiful remote location, delightful hosts, wonderful hospitality, brilliant breakfasts. Have evening meal(s) with Carole and Richard and enjoy their delicious cooking. Spent four nights here and could not have wished for better. Go there but spend some time soaking up the atmosphere and kindness of your hosts.

Beautiful house set in the hills above Whangarei, each room has its own view over the semi-tropical forest that are the gardens, with a view of the sea in the distance. Richard and Carol are great hosts with lots of knowledge of the area. Breakfasts are to die for!
We would recommend Eden house to anyone

Upon arriving at Eden House, we were warmly welcomed by Richard and Carole and instantly felt 'at home'. Looking out to beautiful views of the ocean and rainforest, we had the option to unwind by the pool, or only a short drive through rolling countryside and we were able to enjoy a plethora of coastal walks and unspoilt white sand beaches. Perfect!

The whole ambience of Eden House is one of peace and relaxation, and without a doubt we slept better than we had in a long time!

And it has to be said that the home cooked meals are delicious! We can't recommend this cosy, luxurious homestay enough!

We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The accommodation is beautiful, spacious, clean, well furnished in a stylish and luxurious elegance. It is located in a truly idyllic spot, close to stunning beaches and the city of Whangarei. The views from our bedroom were spectacular. We could see hills, islands and sea. The swimming pool was warm. The food was delicious.
Richard and Carole anticipated our every need and were good company but unobtrusive if we wanted to be alone. They are clearly very experienced in providing the highest quality of hospitality.
One very interesting feature which we thoroughly enjoyed was their bush walk. It took us 20 minutes to walk the circular path through native bush in the grounds of Eden House. We also enjoyed watching the local birds, particularly morepork (small owls) which visited regularly. It felt like being in luxurious accommodation in the midst of untouched nature.
We would strongly recommend Eden House to anyone thinking of spending time in the Whangarei area.

I was recommended this B&B by a friend and it didn't disappoint. It's about a 40min drive north of Whangarei nestled at the top of a stunning valley of regenerating bush so lots of birds, privacy and quiet - if you like native NZ creatures ask Richard to show you the wetas - wow! The house it's self is stunning with large comfy rooms, a number of sunny decks to chill out and read your book on and a swimming pool to cool down in. All of the bedrooms have their own bathroom and deck so it's very private.

The hosts Carole and Richard were just fabulous really friendly and laid back and very hospitable. Anything we needed help with from advice on from things to do in the local area to making sure we were well fed with yummy food was offered in a friendly, helpful manner.

I would definitely stay here again as it was the perfect relaxing get-away spot
