After an excellent day mountain biking to the Bridge to Nowhere (perfect distance for a one-day trip), our family of four took the jet boat back to the lodge to stay overnight where we were welcomed by Joe and Jess.

Stunning views looking out over the river! Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.

Delicious and filling home-cooked food - a true New Zealand experience with roast lamb and veges, baby potatoes, cauliflower and cheese, garlic bread, salads and more, followed by sticky date pudding and ice cream. Exactly what we needed after a busy day!

Friendly cats and lots of interesting animals - piglets, baby chickens, a baby deer, a peacock were just a few of the animals we saw.

Would recommend that everyone stays here...!

Thanks for your review. Yes we are a great family destination. I think the youngest guest was 6 weeks old over from Singapore and the oldest a 92 year old kiwi man who had just been competing in the masters games in Wanganui. Brilliant! Did you see Jess on Masterchief NZ she is a great cook!
Hope to see you and your family again some time!
Cheers Mandy

On a busy day for the lodge we arrived wet and tired after 3 days on the river. Brittany took all our gear up the hill on the bike which was a great relief!
We were met with a smile and friendly introduction to the lodge.
A real mattress, clean sheets and a pillow were exactly what we needed for a good nights sleep.
It was a fun night. A big hearty meal with desert filled the hole and we made a resonable dent in Joe's wine and beer stocks.
Thanks!

We stayed here as a two-day stop on the Whanganui River Journey. It is wonderful to come to such a great place as a break from huts. They have great food, beautiful views, and very friendly staff. We stayed for two days, and took the beautiful ridge walk.

Our group of six stayed the night at Raetihi, shuttled to the track, had a fantastic day cycling topped off with a jet boat ride to the lodge, stayed the night, jet boated to Pipiriki and shuttled back to Raetihi - all organized with Jess and Joe via a couple of emails & phone calls with no fuss.
We have done a few cycling trips and this one is going to be hard to beat. The track is amazing, lots of variety, fantastic views and a lot of history, the jet boat ride to the lodge was a great finish to the day. Jess is a wonderful hostess, the lodge is clean, spacious, beds comfy, showers hot and the beer & wine cold. Our meals were lovely with plenty to go round. On top of all that you got amazing views, millions of stars, no cellphones and a baby deer eating grapes out of your hand!
We all had a fantastic weekend and will be back again - Thanks Jess, Joe, Hollie and the rest of the crew.

We spent a night at this lodge a couple of weeks ago. What a great place. It's not the Hilton but the staff, the food and the sheer uniqueness of the place more than make up for it. This was my husband second visit and he has always wanted to take me there. Combined with the jet boat trip, it is excellent value.
