“Great food but hard to see anything due to poor lighting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2013

We had breakfast here. The service is great and the food and coffee excellent. I can recommend the breakfast " papa bear" or mama bear. Excellent tasting and very well prepared by the cook. The only issue i have with this cafe is the lousy building. It lacks natural light as the only available forms from the windows at the front and as it is a narrow building it disappears rapidly. The owners haven't helped by painting the walls a trendy black but…. the lighting is very very poor. I suggest a redecoration in this new locations or much better lighting.

“A fantastic meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

Upon booking, a menu was emailed to us, which was a very welcome service.
We had overseas guests, and Petit Dejeuner was a great choice for a meal. While the menu wasnt huge, it was varied and interesting. We all ordered something different, and everyone really enjoyed their meal. The standard of cooking was excellent. The waiting staff were all competent.
Sadly, the new venue lacks the atmosphere of the previous premises, nevertheless the best meal I have had in Palmerston North in ages.

“Dejeuner is on the move”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

With the expiry of lease, Dejeuner is on the move. Sister restaurant "Petite Dejeuner" will open in September on 108 Broadway, offering café and French bistro fair. "Dejeuner Restaurant" will continue to do fine dining and its new lease is under negotiation at the moment.

“A new experience that was great!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

This is a restaurant we have been slow to visit as it looks expensive and doesn't have a menu available outside to look at before making a booking. However the restaurant is part of the Entertainment Book now and offers a discount on the total bill for club members. The restaurant has also received awards for its beef and lamb dishes so we decided to try it out. The venue is lovely--olde world and intimate although the owner advised their lease has run out and they are looking for a new location. The bread and dips starter was great and well paced before our very tasty mains arrived. Like most fine dining restaurants the standard mains were on offer and angus steak was our choice-cooked to perfection. The restaurant is BYO but does have a reasonable wine list. We couldn't find room for dessert but there were some interesting options available. We will defintely return and perhaps consider this to be one of a few "very special occasion" resturants we would visit in Palmerston North

“Great tasty menu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2013

We love French food and were not disappointed. The Brown Onion Soup is highly recommended! We found the service tops and very personal. The desserts will certainly bring us back again. Only comment we have that could be improved is the fish I ordered was perhaps a little over cooked as it was somewhat dry. The accompanying dishes made up for that though. Also the ostrich my husband ordered was also a little tough, which was disappointing as he was really looking forward to it. Anyway, this wont put us off as the flavors we to die for and we will be back.
