For $80 a night (for a standard budget room) it was very good value and I would stay again. Clean tidy and in very good condition.

Being that cheap there was not surprisingly a couple of things not provided:

- no soap/shampoo etc, instead there are foaming cleanser dispensers (we had automatically taken our own supplies)

- no aircon or fan, although if we figured a fan would be provided if we asked. Could get warm in there especially if you aren't prepared to leave the upper windows open

- no extra pillows, again probably just a case of asking

Some basic cooking facilities, basically a microwave and an electric frypan, but again at the price of the room that is perfectly fine. Usual fridge/toaster/jug.

Very close to a whole range of supermarkets, takeaways, and liquor store.

No complaints, overall better than expected!

We stayed overnight after racing at Palmerston Speedway and through the whole process of organising a room, I found Lisa to be very helpful. We were given a family room which was refurbished and at the back of the complex so we were able to park our car right outside the unit where it was away from the street and very safe. We arrived late and Lisa left our key in the safe deposit box for collection and left a light on in our room. I could not fault the room at all apart from the fact we had no extra pillows which I see someone else has made mention of. We also did not have a hairdryer which is unusual but we would know for next time to take our own. I can not really comment on the surroundings as we arrived in the dark but there is an island that runs up the middle of the road and we were lucky to have travelled towards the city so we were on the right side of the road. Once again Lisa - thank you so much for going the extra mile - we would definitely return again.

Yes we had problems, mostly we found solutions.
*Handy note, there's a farmer's market around the corner Saturday mornings!*
There's also 2 supermarkets within 2 blocks walk, a decent takeaways shop (Midway) almost across the road, restaurant on motel site, about 7 blocks walk to Pamerston central.
Sky TV we had to figure out for ourselves as there was no guide to use. I found it by accident when I realised I wasn't always getting the same channels when I hit certain numbers on the remote. Like Wats, I'd started assuming it was non-existant. They had 1 movies, 2 sport and some more random stuff.
Sometimes the water in the toilet would take ages to stop running until the attendant told us the trick of tapping the flush again to get it to stop, half flush didn't work at all. She advised these type were not being installed into the refurbished units currently being done.
Pillows were very thin to us, we were so tired the first night we litterally didn't see the spare in the wardrobe (I know I looked there but didn't see it until morning!) but the following day attendant provided more for both of us.
One front window (above door) could not close enough to latch, but too high and small to be security problem. She knew about this also.
Our unit was more modern than the photos someone's given, but I didn't take any, sorry.
Attendant lovely and helpful, free street maps of Palmy city in reception.
Main St at that end has a central island, we had to do a U-turn at an intersection to get on the correct side. Landmark to find: Dominos Pizza on corner, Green Liquorland on corner across road.

Room Tip: There may have been less noise in one of the rear units, but you'd have to ask. They may have been larger/more expensive.

We stayed here for a second time while attending the Fielding Fielddays. We find the Aspree a great place to stay, both times we have had a refurbished unit. The Motel Attendant was wonderful, very professional and she took an interest in the guests. We stay for 5 days at a time and if there is ever a problem (like requiring a can opener) this is sorted promptly. We will be staying at the Aspree again next year. The Sky Tv in our unit worked well.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room. Not next to the laundry.

Overnight stay was perfect & quieter than expected. My sister-in-law booked for us & we weren't disappointed. Modern kitchette & bathroom were very pleasing. We were within walking distance from our function venue CHEERS!
