Yes we had problems, mostly we found solutions.
*Handy note, there's a farmer's market around the corner Saturday mornings!*
There's also 2 supermarkets within 2 blocks walk, a decent takeaways shop (Midway) almost across the road, restaurant on motel site, about 7 blocks walk to Pamerston central.
Sky TV we had to figure out for ourselves as there was no guide to use. I found it by accident when I realised I wasn't always getting the same channels when I hit certain numbers on the remote. Like Wats, I'd started assuming it was non-existant. They had 1 movies, 2 sport and some more random stuff.
Sometimes the water in the toilet would take ages to stop running until the attendant told us the trick of tapping the flush again to get it to stop, half flush didn't work at all. She advised these type were not being installed into the refurbished units currently being done.
Pillows were very thin to us, we were so tired the first night we litterally didn't see the spare in the wardrobe (I know I looked there but didn't see it until morning!) but the following day attendant provided more for both of us.
One front window (above door) could not close enough to latch, but too high and small to be security problem. She knew about this also.
Our unit was more modern than the photos someone's given, but I didn't take any, sorry.
Attendant lovely and helpful, free street maps of Palmy city in reception.
Main St at that end has a central island, we had to do a U-turn at an intersection to get on the correct side. Landmark to find: Dominos Pizza on corner, Green Liquorland on corner across road.

Room Tip: There may have been less noise in one of the rear units, but you'd have to ask. They may have be...

We stayed here for a second time while attending the Fielding Fielddays. We find the Aspree a great place to stay, both times we have had a refurbished unit. The Motel Attendant was wonderful, very professional and she took an interest in the guests. We stay for 5 days at a time and if there is ever a problem (like requiring a can opener) this is sorted promptly. We will be staying at the Aspree again next year. The Sky Tv in our unit worked well.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room. Not next to the laundry.

Overnight stay was perfect & quieter than expected. My sister-in-law booked for us & we weren't disappointed. Modern kitchette & bathroom were very pleasing. We were within walking distance from our function venue CHEERS!

This place had a sticker on the ranch-slider door that read "no smoking inside". What a joke! It STUNK of smoke...and sweat. The pillow had hair and stains on it. The carpet was badly stained and the single bed was so old, if I'd slept on it I would have sunk in and never been seen again. The cold tap in the bathroom was very hard to turn off - especially for my elderly father. Sky TV was advertised on the website but was non-existent.
I will never stay again and nor should anyone else after reading this.

We stayed one night in January and found our room at the Aspree very dated and a little musty but quite clean apart from the floor - it could have done with another vacuum. The lady at Reception could have been a little friendlier but she did give us some fresh milk and wished us a good evening. the bed linen and towels were all freshly washed although the pillows were awful - very flat. Some units seem to have been refurbished so I would recommend asking for one of those. Not bad value...we paid $130 for a 1 bedroom unit with two single beds and we were not charged for our 2 children. A few truck drivers stay there apparently as evidenced by the big trucks parked in the yard and one waking us up when it left early morning. Other than that the motel was very quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room.

We were stranded in Palmerston north due to the snow closing roads.. Walk in late check, very lucky, low price $100 for 4 beds, very dated but had everything required for a comfortable stay...very impressed with fresh towels, complimentary newspaper, milk and hot chocolate

Arrived here on a friday about 3 for a break with the wife , unit was old and dated but clean, also very small, there were a few problems , one the heater supplied with the unit did not work and we had to have it replaced by reception, secondly about 830 in the evening i was about to take a shower and the power failed again i had to call reception about this spending 20 min waiting while it was fixed , i understand that these things happen, but was i given and apology no, or a reduced rate afraid not, as i work in retail i felt this was really poor and cannot recommend this place which is a pity , because my standards are not high ,just a place to rest for the night and a shower is all that i really require , will not stay here again sorry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
