“skippy....”
Reviewed August 19, 2011

we returned this afternoon, back to our house on a main road, back to the grind and the line at the supermarket after 3 wonderful nights at yelverton brook. oh, how we would love to turn around and go back to the tranquility and beauty that we experienced at this magical place. as animal lovers, the trust that the kangaroos placed in us, all day, was an absolute privilege. from waking in the morning, to night, there they were, wanting not only the carrots they knew awaited, but the pats they allowed us. little joeys poking their heads out of the pouch. by night it was possums eating out of our hands, woylies and bandicoots scampering around. yelverton brook is so private i never even met the owners (tho my partner did)...i do appreciate privacy, but would have loved to have thanked them in person for such a lovely stay and to also thank them for the wonderful job they are doing when it comes to our wildlife. so much of what they want to do depends on donations. bathrobes, slippers, fresh baked bread, eggs, milk and butter all there on arrival. if you are after glam, this is not the place for you, but if you are after comfort in the form of an extremely comfortable bed with lovely pillows and lovely linen, heating (or aircon), privacy, animal interaction and a beautiful spa under the stars, go there. we will be back absolutely and have already told so many of our friends and family.

We so enjoyed the natural beauty and the freedom of the game whilst visiting this magnificant retreat. Having the Kangeroos nibble from your hand, knock at the front door and allowing you to stroke them was amazing. Watching the possums and woylies romp and play with no fear in our company. Sitting in the Spa on a cold night, marvelling at the stars and the milky way whilst a Roo peered over the top to see what was going on!
It was all an experience never to be forgotten, as were all the little extra touches of home made bread, butter and milk waiting and the comfortable and well equiped accommodation, filled with lots of little extra touches. Thank you Simon and Joy for your fabulous hospitality.

Adrain and myself have been coming here for a number of years now and have brought the kids back twice, i cant begin to explain what a magical place it is here, with the wildlife at your door and the little things that make your trip extra special.
We love the fresh bread on arrival after the trip here it's nice to sit down with a cuppa and a slice of fresh baked bread and just relax.
As for the rooms the couples chalet is just wonderful with a beautiful fourpost bed and a very romantic feel, as for the family chalet not as nice but fantastic for a family with everything you need it is perfect for the family, the price is no different to anyother place and to tell the truth much nicer in some cases, Joy and Simon have always gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and nothing is ever to much for them.
We will continue to come back again and again the place is somewhere you will never forget and i would highly recomend this place to stay.

Where to begin...Met by Joy who directed us to our chalet. What a suprise to find it all lovely and warm. Joy had been in earlier and put the reverse air cycle on and left us a beautifully cooked loaf along with other extras like butter, milk etc. Much to our amazement the kangaroos, possums & woylies were waiting for us on the patio. Once again Joy had come up trumps for there in the cabin was food for the kangaroos, possums etc as well as food for the birds.

The chalet was very well equipped with everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. The living areas and bedroom was just lovely with little finishing touches here & there. The shower room with the under floor heating was bliss...Oh and the spa absolutely fantastic. thats the inside and the outside just beautiful with some lovely walks. Not far from Margaret River so what more could you ask for. Thank you both so much for much needed R & R.

We spent an amazing two nights, 19-20 January 2011, at this wonderful eco-friendly conservation sanctuary. The enclosed area with wire fencing which kept all the free roaming animals within the very large compound has about 5 chalets, a mix of 1- bedroom and 2-bedrooms. Each chalet is named after an Australian native tree. Suitable for family or a romantic couple getaway. The largest chalet can accomodate 6 people. This sanctuary is located about 25km north of the Margaret River township.
We arrived at about 5.30pm at the office and received a very warm welcome from Joy together with a freshly baked large loaf of bread hot from the oven. We were told that the animals would come by to our chalet soon once they smell food. We came well prepared with carrots, apples and pears to feed the animals.
The main highlight of our stay is to come up close with the kangaroos, woylies, bandicoots, wallabies... and we did just that...feeding them off from our hands! It was indeed a wonderful and great experience. It is like staying in a zoo, and almost felt like in a safari. Every morning and evening, the animals would come to our chalet. The kangaroos will scratch on our glass door for more food. The bandicoots comes by from the roof of our chalet. The parrots come during day. On the top of refridgerator of each chlaet, you will find small portion of animal / bird feed placed in a container with descriptions as to which food is for which animals.
The chalet we stayed is very clean, well-maintained and well-equipped with almost everything for one's stay...even with a BBQ stove. You are also encouraged to seperate your trash accordingly into the different bins for proper disposal. Each chalet is sited far enough within the large compound to protect each occupant's privacy. There is milk, cereal, butter, eggs and jam provided.
Time went by so quickly during our short stay... we love the wildlife... we love the tranquil natural surrounding... we will come back to stay when we visit the Margaret River region next time...

What a fantastic getaway. Joy and Simon have put so much work and love into the grounds and the cabins. You could not ask for more amenities within the cabin. Books galore, DVDs, magazines you name it, it was there. Excellent loaf of bread supplied upon booking in, butter, OJ, cereals and food for the wildlife were all supplied. We were a little sceptical about the wildlife coming to join us in the evening, but 5.30pm came and our first little visitor (kangaroo) arrived to be joined by another one shortly after and soon we were inundated with woylies, a bandicoot and possums. They loved our apple and carrots and of course, the supplied seeds/grains.

Room Tip: All the cabins are lovely.
